Miss Rose Co»t«| L l Miss Rose Coates died Tuesday. Tuly 8, 1924, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Ruth Hopper. She was the daughter of John and Clarissa Coates, born Dec. 24, 1875, and has lived her entire life in or near Ringwood. She leaves to mourn her loss three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Hopper, Mrs. Eliza Merchant and Mrs. Libbie Wiederich, and five brothers, Robert of Cedar, Kansas, George of Clarion, Iowa, Elijah, Joe and Charley of this community. The funeral was held in the Methodist church at Greenwood on Thursday afternoon of last week, Rev. Ross officiating. The farmers feel a little encouraged as the rain ceased long enough for them to cultivate a few rows of corn and mow a load or two of hay. People can get to Woodstock the regular way now by leaving the cement road and going over the hogsback. It will not be long until we can travel the cement all the way. Miss Ammie Francisco is improving in health. She attended the Bassett funeral and Friday last walked % short distance to the home of her sister, which she had not done for nearly four months. Several from this neighborhood attended the funeral of Wilbur Fisk Bassett last week Tuesday, July 8. Mr. Bassett lived in this neighborhood many years, but the past several has lived in West McHenry. Mr. Howe, who resides on the Rogers farm, is still making changes and has moved the wing of the house out east of the old place and is fixing it up. The remaining part of the house is undergoing quite extensive changes. Mrs. Hila Thomas has been away for some time. She accompanied her nephew, Emil Thomas, to Minnesota for an examination to find the cause of his trouble. One report is that the main cause was poor teeth and a need of glasses being changed. The Crystal Lake high school band is now giving weekly open air band concerts. The programs are being rendered on Friday evenings at the high school grounds and start promptly at 7:00 o'clock. Two Franklin Park young men were arrested at Wauconda one day last week and taken to the Lake county jail at Waukegan, charged with reckless driving, having liquor in their possession while driving, driving while in an Intoxicated condition and resisting and threatening an officer. Eighty lots in the Trestik's Walnut Grove subdivision to Barrington were sold at public auction on a recent afternoon and evening. The lots brought a total of $14,325 or an average of $178 each. The new subdivision has been annexed and is now a part of the village of Barrington. The Farmers' New Era Telephone company installed a mila snd a half of new cable last week. The cable was extended from the Pomrening farm south of Richmond, to the Hard Scrabble district. The company serves the Ringwood, Richmond and Hebron districts, with headquarters at Hebron.
