The afternoon hours were passed at games which caused much merriment. One of the games was that which each one was asked to write on paper some advice for the bride. Butler of Chicago were the oat of town "guests. Caroline Ladd was born, October 10, 1858, one mile north of Ringwood cn the farm now occupied by Wm. Justen. She was the daughter of Wesley and Phoebe Haley Ladd. She was united in marriage to Willard E. Smith and to this union w£re born two daughters: Mrs. Clayton Hughes of W. McHenry and Mrs. John Ratcliff of Beverly Hills, Mass., and she had one granddaughter, Nadine Ratcliff. Besides these she is suty^ved by three sisters and one brother as follows: Mrs. Nellie Prichett of Denver, Colo.. Mrs. Amelia Carter of Minneapolis. Minn., and Mrs. Oliver Southwick, Williams Bay, Wis., and James Ladd of Ringwood. Mrs. Smith has spent her entire life in this community and her life should be an example for us all to follow as she was a woman of pure gold,**beloved by all who knew her. The funeral was held from her late home Tuesday afternoon with interment in Ringwood cemetery. Dr. Fischer of Chicago spoke words of comfort to the family and friends and Mrs. Greeley of Richmond sang sev eral appropriate selections.
