About midnight, all departed, pronouncing the hostess a jovial entertainer. Jesse Allen made a business trip to Ringwood on Tuesday, contracting pickles for the Vogel-Schillo company. Herman Shaefer of McHenry was a business visitor in Ringwood on Tuesday. Miss Jane Gould, who has been ill at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bapon, is improving. \ Mrs. Almq Thomas of McHenry visited her daughter, Mrs. James Ramyon, Wednesday. Floyd Foss and his mother, Mrs. Rillah Foss, spent Wednesday evening with their grandson, Warren Jones, of McHenry. He received his second birthday on April 21. Master Leonard Brown spent Wednesday evening with his grandmother, Mrs. McDonald, of McHenry. Raymond Hall is again able to be out after being ill. Converse of Fox Lake visited the S. J. Russell home recently. This Sunday evening, May 2, baptismal services and reception of new members will be held at the Volo M. E. church. Then on the ensuing Sunday, being Mother's Day, there will be special services. Mary Vogt visited Chicago relatives the first of the week. Larsen, of the Hubbard school, gave a very successful box social on Friday ^evening, May 23. A goodly crowd was present, and after an interesting program, the boxes were auctioned. Coffee, sandwiches and cakes were sold. One cake brot $15, being sold by nickel bids. Net proceeds amounted to about $72. Harmon Meigs, after spending a week with his uncle, A. Stanford, returned to his home at Evanston, on Friday. Joseph Kotstelac, grandson of J O. Borney, has gone to Chicago to live. We miss him from Volo public school, where he has been a scholar this term. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Vasey and son virited Herman • Dunker's on Sunday afternoon. Paddock is removing an old landmark which had in time past been known as Goodell's Tavern, made famous by Opie Read in his .novel, "A Yankee From the West." Elinor Sherman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Sherman, is back in school this week several days with Reports say the Brott farm will spend in the new residence. With good health of pupils, OstenJ school will close Jrut 3. There have been several days lost on account of sickness, making closing time later than usu :l. Many loads of brick and lumber have been trucked to the Brott fans. They also have had a man there lowering the well and claim to have twenty fee1; of water now.
