Buckland home a few days. Mrs. Ed Thompson and children were McHenry visitors Sunday. Carl Peterson of Watertown, S. D., visited friends here a few days recently. Mr. and Mrs. Nick Young and daughter, Adele, were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schaefer in McHenry. Mrs. Frankie Stephenson spent several days this week in the Ed Westeitnan home in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stephenson were Highland Park visitors Sunday. Butler was pleasantly surprised by a number of her friends last Wednesday evening, the occasion being in honor of her birthday anniversary. There were four tables of five hundred in play during the evening and prises were awarded to Mrs. B. T. Butler and George Shepard, firsts and consolations to Mrs. Ray Peters and George Young. A nice lunch of sandwiches, coffee and jello was served by the guests. A very pretty kitchen clock was presented to Mrs. Butler as a reminder of her birthday. Those present were: Mrs. Butler of Bath, 111., Miss Arline Harrison, Clarence Pearson, Messrs. and Messdames B. T. Butler, Leon Dodge, Prank Hitchens, H. C. Hughes, Ray Peters George Shepard, A. W. Smith and George Young. The Jolly Sixteen Bunco club met at the home of M!rs. Elmer Olson last •Thursday. Several games of bunco were played and the first prize was Won by Mrs. Viola Lowe, second by Mrs. George Worts, third by Adele Young and consolation by Mrs. Nick Freund. A few of the friends here of Mr. and Mrs. William Beck of Dundee spent Saturday evening with them. The evening was spent in playing cards after which an oyster supper was served by the guests . The party was a farewell, Mr. and Mrs. Beck having left for Florida Monday morning. Those in attendance from here were Messrs. and Mtessdames Kenneth Cristy, H. M. Stephenson and Ed Whiting. . Mrs. Charles Peet was surprised at her home last Tuesday evening, the occasion being in honor of her birthday anniversary. There were thirtytwo guests present. The evening was spent at bunco and conversation and a lunch was served at a late hour. Mrs. Peet was presented with a suitable birthday gift. T. L.
