The Finance committee presented the following ^solution, which on mo­ tion was adopted, to-wit: licsolved,--T:»at the- Ct-iHfty Treas­ urer be andis hereby instructed to an­ nually procure a draft on New York for the purpose of paying interest on McHenry County orders held ill the ci ty of Philadelphia, saitl draft to be ^eut to some banker in the latter city to be designated by the party*©r pur- ties holding such orders. On motion of Supervisor Parsons the above resolution was reconsidered, but on second vote was confirmed, ayes '15 nays 3. Supervisor Parsons presented the following resolution, which on motion was adopted, to-wit: Resolved,--That we congratulate the tax payers of our county in the success which ba« attended the eflortsmade by this Board and by our worthy Treas­ urer and Clerk in placing the couuty debt at a lower rate of interest.-- These efforts have resulted in first re­ ducing th€ entire amount from ten to 8 per cent and lastly in placing $39,000 of the same at 7 per cent interest. We therefore instruct the county Treasurer to continue ottering for sale the new 7 per ceut orders to any and all par­ ties desiring to invest in them, and to use the fuuds received therefrom in re­ ducing as he has heretofore done, the outstanding 8 per cent orders of the county to the extent of the means at his command not otherwise appropri­ ated, or until all such orders shall be redeemed and the entire county debt placed at 7 pereeut iuterest. To further this end, we would in­ struct the treasurer to issue 7 per cent ^County orders of the denominations of one aud two hundred dollars, for the accommodation of parties desiring to invest in such amounts. The report ot the Grand Jury of the January term 1877, was presented, read and placed on lile. The semi-annual reports of t|w' cir­ cuit clerk, county clerk and sheriff, Were received and referred to the com­ mittee on fees and salaries. The minutes of yesterday's sessions were read and ap­ proved. The tvunaittee te whom the Coniinittet* Supervisor Goodrich presented the following resolution which on motion was adopted. Eemlved„ That a committee of 3 be appointed to enquire into the expe* diency of purchasing a farm with suit* able buildings to be occupied as a homo for the Poor of the towns of the county aud to ascertain thb attending expense of keeping the poor in the adjoining countie«, where the poor are kept and supported ou farms, the probable ex­ pense or cost of a farm to be located iu some convenient place for the acconw modatiou of the county and report the result uf their investigations to the regulaflneetiug of this board in Sep* tern her next. And the Chairman thereupon ap« pointed Supervisors Goodrich, Qartte son and Cooney said committee. Stipersor Patrick made motion tfiaf' tl»e pur chasing agent be instructed to advertise for 60 or more*cords of good seasoned, first class hard wood, to be delivered at the Court House iu wood<> stock during month of Oct« or Ifov. of f as purchasing agent may desire. No bids to be reeeived for less than .25 cords in one lot. Also to receive bide for coal, and purchase where both wood and coal can be purchased to the best advantages; and also that circuit and County clerks and Treasurer use fuel from fuel purchased by comity, and the 6tim of 940 be deducted from salaries of Circuit and County clerics*- and the sum of 935 from salary of Treasurer. Motion carried. Motion made by Supervisor Cottar that the materials on hand left after repairing roof be left iu the hands of the Building committee, and that the/ be instructed to repair the dome oi the court house. Motion carried. Supervisor Parsons made motion that the action of this Board in regard to the equalization of assessment of Personal Property toe reconsidered* Motion lost, On motion of Supervisor Crf sty fiNMtt committee on Assessment of Personal-' Property Mr. J. C. Crumb's assessment was reduced to 96,500, also that the assessment of money and credits to Q« A, Palmer stanjl at 92,500. Supervisor Van Yalkertburg mad* statement In regard to the well lit front of the Court House and thlf matter was reffered So the committe» on public buildings.
