We take the following particular* of the fire which occured at Bainsvllle, on Thursday night last, from the WaU- kegati Patriot of Saturday. Thursday evening of thfs weelt George Cleveland, who ooenpied the building , adjoining Webb ft Fox's store, in the village of Halnsvllle, discovered smoke Issuing from the store building, and Immediately gave the alarm, The villagers responded with alacrity to the.cry for aid, and busy hands Were soon at work endeav oring to stay the devouring element which by this time had gained great headway. It was found impossible to stay the Dames, and In a comparatively short time Webb ft Fox's store, aud the Halnsvllle Masonlo Hall. |n the corner building owned by J. Devoe, together with the harness shop, barn, and other out-bulldlngs, were smould ering rnins.* There was an Insurance of f|,o6o on the merchandise, but not One penny on any of the buildings. The fire was dis covered about 10 o'clock, and is sup posed to have caught from the stove pipe. The harness maker and shoe maker saved their implements, but everything else went up in smoke. The fire was so hot that it required the united efforts of all the viliageps to keep Mr Wadsworth's residence, across the street, from igniting. The fence surrounding the buildiiig ,to the ground.
