In this vicinity there seems to be 11 Ml* interest in who the candidates for the judgeship shall be, with the exception of Judge Mur phy. In his re-election to the Judge ship he has filled with so much ability and honesty for so many years, a large majority of our citizens feel a lively interest. Probably no man ever occu pied the bench as many years as Judge Murphy has with less stain thin he has. Indeed it would be impossible to pick a flaw, justly, in his judicial career.-- His long experience, his comprehensive knowledge of law, his strict impartial ity and integrity, eminently fit him for a posi tion of so much honor and trust. That's the way most of us feel in tills part of the District. Mr. Coon lies lately visited Richmond, looking after his own chaneea for support here, but I think he forHMf llttlo encourage ment. While Mr. Coon may be a good lawyer and have such qualifications as 'Slight fit him for the Judgeship, It would be folly to trade off so experi enced and eminent a Jurist as Judge Murphy, for Mr, Coon or aoy other un tried man. ________ An exhibition of drawings by Miss Miners drawiug class, waa held at the Art room on Friday afternoon, and was creditable alike to Miss Miner's success as a teacher, and the talent of her large class of pupils. Unlike Miss Reed's system, which confined the work mostly to copying, Miss Miner has taughOher pupils to draw from nat ural objects; and it is wonderful to ob serve what a trained and judicious teacher like her, can accomplish by a few months instruction.
