The crowd present was estliriatea at 1,000, aud It was probably itirger than that. Parties, wer- here from long distances to see and buy. We met men from Woodstock and Wsucgu* da, aud other pacts of Lake County. Mclleury was we)l represented. There was a nice display of blooded stock brought for exhibition rather than Sale. We had time to be en the ground only a few minutes and therefore had Insufficient time to more than give a cursory look at this Une stock, and we learned the nnmns of only a few exhibi tors. Hyde A Coakley showed seme One kferlno Rains, and C, Street A Son some Poland China Pigs t'liat ought te take a premium nnywhtre. Their stock is well known throughout the west and needs no special commendation, John Veeburg had some fyie pigs on exhibi tion. Among the herd of cows sold by Bry. Benson were some Jerseys, per fect little beauties. Jo. Hyde secured one of these for something less than 900. Besides the sales made there was a large amount of trading done. Those wishing to exchange stock for stock found ample opportunity to do so. This feature of tlie fair should be borne in mind when successive fairs are ad vertised, and induce men ta bring out the I restock. One of our farmers had a large rnm- ber of small pigs which he had offered at one dollar apiece cut the farm, with out buyers. As an experiment he brought 13 of them to the fair and im mediately sold them at ten shillings the head, aud lie could have sold many more if he had brought them. Some stock exhibited at the fair was sold next day, so that tlie fair sales as re ported de, not represent the entire aggregate of purchases which should really be credited to It, We noticed a load of turnips, honey i «id wnslt «>Wt ®uo had fltftiShpartlMBefe. •TtieuRewAttl Bros. :4iad on exhibition eniHiMeao# 'lln# varieties of |>»tatee«, and contracted a large amount of the same for delivering in the sp-lug at $i.00 |»er bu«hel. There was a good ttiunber ef horses offered for'sale, ami It would have been a good place for horse buyen« to attend. Assbonas it ls demonstrated that the horses will be at these fairs for sale It will attract buyers-frem the city. The auctions commenced soon after noon and It took a good share of the a/ternoon to get through with them. Gee. W. Stewart was the only man who wielded the hammer and made both purchasers and sellers happy in strict accordance with the Auctioneer's art. It gava him a hard afternoon's work, but whoever knew Stewart to tire out'whlle anything was left to lie knocked clown to the lowest bidder?
