Gaylord Marvin, only child of Avery S. and Lena Marvin Holmes, was born in Johnson, Vermont, May 8, 1898, and died in Ringwood, Illinois, February 10, 1908. The family moved from their tormer home in the fall of 1899, and set­ tled in Ringwood, where they have since resided. About one year ago little Gaylord suf­ fered from an illness from which he never fully recovered, but was comfort­ ably well until cold weather came on again when he began to fail. The la»>t five weeks of his life were weeks of suf­ fering patiently borne, while tender hands did all that human love could do to save him. He was a bright, active, happy child, with a mind unusually quick to grasp ideas far beyond hiB childish years, and a ready wit and clearness of expression not often found in one so young, iiis nature was a lov­ ing one that bound him t6 his parents' hearts with ties that now reach "beyond the veil" that hides him from their view till life'8 toilsome journey is ended, and the glad morning of reunion shall come in a better land. Till that joyful hour, we will leave our dear one in the encir­ cling arms of One who said, "Suffer lit­ tle children to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven." The Green Bay Limited, on which he was firing, ran into a switch engine that was occu­ pying the main track on the Limited's line. Ed. jumped in time to escape probably more serious injury.
