Miss Irma Watson was a Woodstock visitor Tuesday. Fine weather, and the farmers are very busy, preparing for corn' planting. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Merchant spent a few days the latter part of last week in Chicago. Miss Ellen Hall, Ringwood's trained nurse, is attending patients at Green­ wood at present. Miss Zillah Stevens is oat of school this week on account of a slight attack of German measles. Do not fail to hear Sunday, the evan­ gelist, at Richmond, every night this week, including Sunday. , The teachers' Institute of McHenry township will be held in the Ringwood school building, Saturday, May £3. Mesdames W. A. Dodge, Walter Bradley, Small, and Miss Dora Coates were among the busy shoppers of Chi­ cago Friday last. There will be no Epworth League at the M. E. church Sunday evening on account of the numlter of people of Ringwood attending the Richmond services. Nearly every night a number of Ringwood people find their way to Richmond to hear Rev. Sunday and each report him as being one of the best of public speakers. Mr. Peet has arranged so as to accom­ modate his Ringwood customers with mill work on Saturdays only. He therefore urges the farmers to come as early Saturdays as possiffle. P. ' S. Harrison returned Saturday from Bloomington, where he has been the past week in the interest of the Woodman camp of Ringwood and to attend the convention held there. Mr. Baker, the optician, who is stop­ ping with Mrs, Mary Dodge, will be pleas;, d to receive the calls of any one having troubles with the eyes or glasses that do not fit. Eyes tested free. There will be no services or Sunday school in the M. E church of Ringwood on Sunday, May 17, on account of the Sunday school convention which will be held at Ostend on that day. It is hoped that Ringwood will be well represented at this convention. Dr. Cook, who was expected to speak at the Universalist church last Sunday, was upable to fill his appointment. Al­ though disappointed in not seeing Dr. Cook, the large congregation was de­ lighted with the fine sermon delivered to them by their pastor, Rev. F. W. Miller. Dr. Cook will deliver a lecture at the Woodman hall Thursday evening on "The Coming Man." The proceeds are to go to the Universalist Sunday school. This promises to be a first-class lecture and a good attendance is desired. Ad­ mission 15 and 25 cents. Our school has recently been fur­ nished with a new library case. This is one of the much needed improvements of the grammar school and it is to the pupils we owe the credit as, a result of the entertainment and socials given by them. Next the interest will be turned toward filling the splendid case with first-class reading material. W. A. Dodge, who is financially in­ terested in the Casca Du Paga Mining Co., left Ringwood this Thursday morn­ ing for Seattle, Wash., where, after p brief sojourn, he intends to start active operations on a claim near the Casca Du Paga river. The company has al­ ready disposed of $15,000 worth of min­ ing stock. The well wishes of Mr. Dodge's friends go with hiin. O Bean the Signatory of . James were Mc­ Henry visitors the last of the week. Mrs. Robt Hunter of Richmond spent the Sabbath here, with relatives. Several of the Solon Royal Neighbors attended camp here Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Westlake enter­ tained company from Antioch Sunday. Fred Pierce and lady friend visited Wilmot friends one evening last week. Mrs. Lizzie Neish has been quite sick since our last writing but is now on the gain. Mrs. L. Wilson of Wabash, Neb., spent the first of the week here with relatives. Our street commissioner and his gang of men are doing some good work on our streets. Mrs. Sarah Wilson entertained Mr. and Mrs. Oliver of Rosencrans the last of the week. Several from here will attend the dances at Wilmot and Richmond, Fri­ day evening. Chas. Andrews and son, Frank, at­ tended to legal business at the county seat last week. Bob, the pet dog of W. W. Lichty, died and is mourned by the whole neighborhood. John Karles snd family have moved into their new home recently purchased of Selim' Pierce. Misses Edna Pierce and Clara An­ drews spent the Sabbath with Mr. and Mrs. Everett Orvis. Saturday's lawsuit was a'hummer. Twill be finished at Woodstock some time in the future. J. W. Bell was over from Ringwood Monday and purchased E. Milk's fine grey driving horse. Carpenters are just rushing work on Schatfer s new house and will soon be ready for ti e masons. John Nett and Harry Spear were over from Wilmot Tuesday afternoon re­ pairing the telephone. The dance at the town hall last Fri­ day evening was a splendid success. A large crowd and good time. Editor Schoonmaker and friend, Dr. Holly, of McHenry were pleasant cal­ lers here Saturday afternoon, Mesdames J. Duffy and R. Shotliff of Wilmot spent Tuesday here with their sister, Mrs. Kate Shotliff. Mr. and Mrs. Win.. James had a family reunion Sunday, all their child­ ren being home but Frances, who works at Hebron. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ray of Wadsworth, Miss Susie Lucas and Fred Brown of Antioch spent Saturday night and Sun­ day with Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Oxtoby. A gentleman of Chicago made his yearly visit tuneing pianos in and around Solon last week. Miss Effie Delsel, who is staying at Wester man's was'home to see her par­ ents Sunday near Fox Lake. Kirk Krane, who is in the employ of the Oliver factory at Woodstock visited at the home of his uncle, W. D. Monear, over Sunday. A large number from here attended Rev. Sunday's meeting at Richmond, and all are of the same opinion--he preaches the truth. Ben Johonett has a week's lay off and is home visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. S. Johonett.
