Miss Rose Coat.es is spending several weeks with her sister, Mrs. Hopper. J as. Westlake was called to Lake Villa by the sickness of his son, Robert. Robert Godfrey returned home from Lake Villa where he has been working on the ice Lewis Nulk and Lewis Sweet, were in Chicago last week and brought out sev­ eral horses. Ben French was a Chicago and Wheaton visitor Friday. Mr. French intends to start work on a big stock farm in Wheaton Monday. The Royal Neighbors will giveaoinch porty and supper in their ha 1 Wednes­ day evening, March 30 All are cordial­ ly invited to attend. Admission 10 cents. The members of the Cole Cemetery Aid Association meet at the home of the secretary, Mrs. Jennie Oxtoby, April 2. All members are requested to be present and be prepared to pay any back quarterly dues. The Republican caucus held Saturday nominated the following ticket: Town clerk, Frank Orvis; assessor E. S. French; collector, W. C. Moss; road commissioners, Mark .Hoffman, Chester Stevens; constable, Selim Pierce. The water in the Nippersink is the highest it has been for several years. The road between the postoflice and the bridge is flooded and nearly washed out and the bridge is in danger. It is re­ ported that several bridges up the stream have been washed out Almost all the low places and the bridges are flooded so they can not. be crossed. Several litdies of Solon were cut off from home Tuesday evening. While going to work Tuesday morning Peter Nimskern tip­ ped oyer and had to leave his buggy in the fatter near Coles bridge. Ladd returned Friday from their trip to Alabama and Texas. Mrs. John Pint, who has been serious­ ly ill the past week, is improving under the care of Dr. Fegers of McHenry. The sermon topic at the Universalist church next Sunday evening will be: "The Church: Its Composition and its Purpose." - Tragedy Averted.
