C. Besley was the scene of one of the most delightful social functions which Woodstock has ever known. _ > :-; The occasion Ntws in Besley's sister, Mrs. ft»nly, of Elgin, formerly known to her Woodstock friends as Miss Maude Bannett. At promptly three o'clock, the car riages began to roll up and the guests were handed to tbtir hostess, who met them at the door with her usual genial smile and sincere handshake. As soon as the guests were presented to r-he guest of honor, tally cards, very prettily decorated with yellow, chrysan themams and tied with a bow of yellow, were distributed. Then for the fivst time did each guest realize in what a distinguished assembly she found her self. Among those present were some of our best known society leaders, each gowned in a most becoming mode. There was Mrs. Roosevelt in a gown of soft gray accompanied by her daugh ter, Cilice, h? a pimple costume of black, and Misa Fairbanks in a Paris, creation of various co'ors softly blending. Mrs. Potter Palmer was entertaining her friends with clippings from her recent experiences abroad.' 'Among otheis of distinguished personality were Mrs. Gould, Mrs. Marshall "Field* Mrs. Rothchild, Mrs. Pierpont Morgan, Mrs. Dates and 'Susan B. Anthony. M rs. Bryan and Mrs. Parker were seen in one j corner "holding hnnds." Mrs. Parker- wore a gown of deep black and appeared to be receiving condolence.- Mrs. De- neen was an especial favorite during the afternoon. . • The guests were eutertained at flinch and it was during the game that oue well-known personage, who had been hobnobbing with the first ladies of our land in such an easy manner that her identity was not recognized, made her self known and feared. Yes, Carry A. Nation struck as much fear „ to' the hearts of ber opponents with the little word "flinch" as she had previously with her hatchet. After a few strenuous games the dainty and delicious lelieouaje.nts served were most welcome. The salon was^ar tistically decorate with potted chrys anthemums, yellow and white, and the dining roo u with large yellow cut chrysanthemum, while others were giv en to each guest. Yellow and "white was the color scheme, delicately carried out, even to the shades ou the lights. As the hour for departure arrived there were sweet leave-takings, and each lady was ushered out by her coachman in gay attire--the last guest departed and the long string of carriages disap peared in the darkness. "Chronic cases" that's what the doctors call them, which in common English means--long sickness. To stop the continued loss of flesh they need Scott's Emulsion. For the feeling of weakness they need Scott's Emulsion.^ It makes new flesh and gives new life to the weak system. Scotjt's Emulsion gets thin and weak persons out of the rut. It makes new, rich blood, strengthens the nerves and gives appetite for ordinary food. Scott's Emulsion can be taken as long as sickness lasts and do good all the time. There's new strength and flesh in every dose. Unhealthy Kidneys Make Impure Blood. All the blood in your body passes through your kidneys once every three minutes. The kidneys are your blood purifiers, they fil ter out ihe waste or impurities in the blood. . If they are sick or out of order, they fall to do .h^ir work. Pains, aches and rheu matism come from ex cess of uric acid in the blood, due to neglected kidney trouble. Kidney trouble causes quick or unsteady heart beats, and makes one feel as though they had heart troubie, because the. heart is over-working in pumping thick, kidney- poisoned blood through veins and arteries, It used to be considered that only urinary troubles were to be traced to the kidneys, bSl'now modern sciencerproves that nearly all constitutional diseases have their begin ning in kidney trouble. if you are sick you can make no mistake by first dor:toriivg your kidneys.
