The government postal authorities have caused to be postal in every post- office in the country a circuiar letter to the public, urging everyone to use en­ velopes with a return card printed thereon. Every business man, farmer or person of any occupation should have his name and address printed on his envelopes, thus insuring their return to the sender if any mistake is made in the address. On account of a wreck last summer the Volo mail carrier was unable to de­ liver all the mail the past week. Mr. and Mrs. B. Coeaiaan and daugh­ ter, Merle; of Round^Lake called on James Kirwan and wife Sunday. On account ot the new faotoryat Round Lake the Volo creamery only runs every other day until further notice. Onoe in four years the government weighs the mail on the trains for a period of 90 days, taking from the re­ ports made by the railway postal clerks the reports for 30 consecutive days, and on these reports base the contract with the railroads for the ensuing four years. The weighing process is in progress all the time in some part of the country, tbe entire United States being divided up into districts. The weighing of mail in this, the sixth district, of which Chi­ cago is the headquarters, will next be taken np by the government. Daring the months of March, April and May of next year the postal clerkB will weigh every ounce of mhil carried on tbe trains on the division. Thirty men will be required for this work aside from the regular mail clerks, and they will be compensated at the rate of $8 a day. Preparations for the work are now un­ der way. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Sanborn of Spring Grove spent Sunday with the latter's parents, Mr. and MrB. N. D. Stevens. Henry Stephenson passed the mail carriers' examination successfully and started on his work Monday morning. C. A. Dnnning and family of Marengo came over in their auto and spent the first of the week with C. B. H. Tuttle and family. ,s ^ Geo. E.- Adams spent Sunday with Richmond friends. He was accompan­ ied home by his aunt, Miss Lizzie Turner, of McHenry. Regular services at the Universalist church next Sunday. Sunday school at 1:80 p. m. and preaching at 2:80 p. m. Everybody cordially invited. Jos. H. Justen has moved on the farm formerly occupied by Ole Wolkos, and Mr. Wolkos has moved his family onto the farm vacated by Mr. Jnsten. Mr. and Mrs. James Walsh and the latter's mother of Chicago, Mrs. Ed. Knox, Mrs. Mary Boyle and Maggie Walsh of McHenry visited with Mrs. B. Keefe and family Friday afternoon. The Ladies' Aid society, who gave a Halloween Bocial at the home of Geo. H. Harrison last Wednesday evening, made the neat little sum of ten dollars.
