Your attention is directed to the letter received from Miss Bertha Grivey, Los- tant, 111., who aimered for several yean with £tomaoh, spinal and nervous troub les: To whom it may concern: I sincerely wish to have the public and also long suffering friends know what Prof. Leach has done for me. For several years I suffered constant ly with stomach, spinal and nervons troubles. During that time I tried var ious medicines, also electricity in all forms, obtaining but temporary relief. Several doctors told me that an opera tion would be my last resort, but I would not consent to that When I first came to Prof. Leach I could hardly walk without assistance, neither could I eat any food without suffering great distress. Alter taking thirty treatments my friends were amazed to see how much better I could j walk and could eat any kind of food without the slightest distress. I can truthfully say that I gained in strength from the very first treatment Words cannot express the gratitude I owe Prof. Leach for the benefit I have received from his treatments, and 1 feel confident that what he has dona for me he can do for others. Wishing him all soccasa in Ins wonderful work I Am, Respectfully, Misa Bartha Grivey. Loetant, 111. Prof. Leach has a record of over 6000 cures of female trouble. Never 1mm failad in esses of sppsadicitis or gall stones. There is not a known disease of child or grown person that he has not cured by his vital magnetic powers. No medicines. HOWAUP pUftNgO Hy fltancaev Ss plosion at Ver SbNM ln ' • * \ Klein. • In the midst of Christmas festivities at her home, 188 Oak street, Mrs. Rob ert R. Boward was seriously and pain fully burned by a furnace explosion at 16:80 "a'clock Wednesday, Dec. 36, says th« Elgin N»w*. Only her presence of | mind i|vad her from hfting hnrnad to "BBUi, oiie Io uuw iu a uriuusi uuiitii- tion, her face, arms and body being frightfully scorched. ' ; • The accident occurred tea the base ment of the Howard hom@ Mr. and Mrs. Howard were entertaining a num ber of relatives and Mrs. Howard had gone down stairs to look at the furnace fire. The guests were startled by a loud explosion, followed by the frantic ecreame of Mrs. Howard. Beating the fast spreading flames from her face, she stumbled up the stairs to t^e kitchen. Her waist and underwear were a mass of flame. The fire was burning toward her hair, which had been scorched, hn£ which she saved with her hands. Mr ] Howard and his mother, Mrs. R. A. Howard, attracted by the commotion, grasped the burning woman at the top . of the steps. Hastily gathering rugs j and clothes th«y pnt out th© fire. Dr. i O. A, Pelton was called and dressed the I injuries. Be in now in attendance. | It was feared that Mrs. Howard's in juries might prove fatal. The excite ! went of the accident affected her nerves and made her condition much worse. Had Mrs. Howard taken the easiest exit from the basement or had she been wearing clothing of a combustible na ture she would probably have been fatally burned before aid reached her. The outside basement door was nearer than the inside one, but Mrs. Howard retained her presence of mind and ran toward help. The accident was the result of an -attempt on the part of Mrs. Howard to start a fire in the furnace, which she believed had gone out. The coafls all appeared to be dead. She had piled kindling upon the ashes and had poured a small quantity of kerosene upon the wood, i She stepped aside to secure a match, when suddenly the explosion took place. It is believed that the ker- oeene touched the smouldering coals, causing a blaze, which ignited' coal gas in the upper part of the furnace. Many sudden deaths are caused by it--heart dis ease, pneumonia, heart failure or apoplexy are often the result of kid- ! nev disease, li j kidney trouble is allowed to advance the kidne y poi son- ed blood will at tack the vital organs, causing catarrh of the bladder, or the kidneys themselves break down and waste away cell by cell. It has been a subject of comment that the usual features of the Sunday news papers showed too little variety. A re cent departure in journalism has met with popular recognition and approval. The great illustrated weeklies and monthlies no longer have a monopoly of the periodical field. Conan Doyle re ceived $25,000 for the American serial rights of his last story, the highest price ever paid for simitar rights. An thony Hope, Jack London, Sewell Ford and man/ other popular novelests con tribute to the publication which set the pace by paying this record price. Cele brated men and women write constant ly for it on all subjects of tiuiely inter est. Clever verse, wit, bunion and in teresting miscellany complete a most interesting table of contents.' It is pro fusely illustrated by the leading artists. In fact, the Sunday Magazine of the Chicago Record-Herald maintains the hisrhest standard of periodica! ilteratnre thruout.
