The McHenry cornet band played at National rink, Nnnda, On %hnrsday evening of last week. ' The prize for the two fceet'iady skat ers at the RiverBide skating rink en Thursday evening last was awarded to Mies Mattie Smith and Mise Katip Howe. We understand that the Northwest ern railroad is contemplating establish ing a new depot between McHenry and Crystal Lake, at a point on the road di rectly west of the old McMillan mill. This will make a shipping point for the Spring Valley tile works, and we also understand parties in the vicinity will agree to ship milk from this point to Chicago. The name of the new station shonld be Spring Valley. The proprietors of the cheese factory building, in the center part of the vil lage, have decided to remodel the same and torn it into a skating rink. They will add on both front and back, mak ing the building 120 feet long, fit it np with galleries for spectators and finish it off in a style second to none in this part of the state. The basement of the building will be fitted up for a first- class restaurant, which will be run in connection with the rink, where a first- class meal or a lunch can be procured at all times. The entire building will be heated by steam from the large boiler now in the building. This is an enter prise which we are glad to see started, for besides a skating rink it will make a first-class place for public meetings of all kinds, something we are sadly in need of this village, and this will be the most central location to be found. Work will be commenced as soon as the weather will permit. The McHenry Dramatic club will present for the. benefit of the McHepgy cornet band, on Thursday^^ ̂ iuay evenings of next wteh'Feb. 5 and 6, the popular threei drama, entitled "Ne- vada,_o^ther"Lost Mine." We did not learn the time. For the turkey race on Saturday even ing there were five contestants and the turkey was finally captured by Wm. Whiting. The attendance was large on both evenings.
