Residents of Fox Lake as well, as Chicago property owners and owners of property in McHenry county, just over the Lake county line, are now consider­ ing an improvement which will bring Ijake and McHenry county closer to gether than they now are in the Fox Lake region. The project being planned is to erect a monster concrete bridge across the north end of Pistakee lake, just south of the St. Paul bridge, to be ueeil for teauis aud pedestrians in crossing over from the territory which is now separated by water. As it is now, people wishing to Ko to McHenry county line or vice versa, have to go clear to Johnsburgh or to McHenry to the south and theii drive way out around, the trip thus being many miles. If the bridge were across Pistakee many miles travel wpuld be saved and that is what the promoters are now con sidering, and, from what has been heard, it appears as if the plans will go thru. It is stated that the pioposed bridge would cost about $60,000 and would be from 300 to 400 feet long. The bridge would either be built high enough to permit boats passing in nnder it or there would be a turn bridge in the center, such as the St. Paul now has in its bridge. The improvements would enhance the value of property greatly in that section and would bring the people of the locality into closer communication, thus working to the advantage of all, particularly Fox Lake village. It is also being proposed that a bridge be built at the east end of Pistakee lake from Fox Lake island, to both the north and south with two short bridges, much smaller than the big bridge mentioned above. The fact is. Fox lake has a boom on and people are much interested and en­ thused over developing that section. One thing now being done which inter ests motor people is that gangs of men and teams have been at work cutting down over six feet of the terrific grade leading up to the Mineola hotel, also to the west of there, making the highway very much more easy to travel than it has always been for the hill has been almost impassabje and bard for teams to make. Village officials from Fox Lake in­ spected the electric route on Thursday of last, week and they reported such favor to the scheme for bringing the road to Fox Lake that they are now taking the matter up with wealthy Chi­ cago men who own property in that section. PROGRESSIVE SIXTEEN ENTERTAINED. Dr. and Mrs. Arnold Mueller were host and hostess to the members of the Progressive Sixteen club at their home on Thursday evening of last week. HIDE AND SEEK HALLOWEEN PARTY Willie Bickler entertained about forty of his yonng friends at a hide and seek party at the McHenry Hocse hall on Monday evening. The girls, as is the custom, went into hiding early in the evening and, owing to the fact that the boys did not hav<T their spies located properly, the girls were still undiscov­ ered when the time allotted the boys to find them was np. The girls reported at the McHenry Honse in ample time to be royally entertained by the jolly host and his boy companions. Halloween games of all sorts were played and a lively time was had by all. Before the party broke up all were served with re­ freshments, consisting of ice cream and cake. NOVEL HALLOWEEN PARTY. Misses Irene McOmber and Mabei (iranger gave a delightful and novel Halloween party eleven of their friends at the home of the former young lady last Monday evening. The guests were requested to come attired in "ghost costnme" made np of a sheet and pillow case. They were received %t the McOmber home by Master Lewis McOmber, who was also "spookishly" attired. The home was most appropri­ ately decorated and at every turn the guests encountered something sugges­ tive to Halloween. The evening was pleasantly passed in games, fortune celling and guessing contests, all ol which were in keeping with the night. At about the midnight hour the jolly pair of hostesses invited the gnests into the dining room, where an elegant Hal­ loween supper was served, after which all departed for their homes. The gnests were re ceived at the head of the stairway as they arrived and escorted into the apart­ ments by the genial hostess, assisted by her daughter, Mrs. Mayme Lamphere. The home was very prettily decorated for the occasion and presented a most inviting appearance. The evening was devoted to the playing of progressive ;inch, five tables being nsed for the par pose. The ladies' prize went to Mrs. C. L. Page, while C. H. John carried away the gents' honors. After the prizes had been awarded the gaestsl were served with a dainty two coarse lancheon. Because her birthday anniversary came on Thursday and wishing to make the event a success, about twenty of her young friends tendered Miss Irene Fris- by a very pleasant surprise at her home last Wednesday evening. The surprise was as complete as it was possible to make it. Miss Frisby, who sells dress goods by the yard at the store of M. J, Walsh, left the store shortly after eight o'clock on Wednesday evening and when she entered her home the boys and girls were there to greet her with a merry "s-u-r-p-r-i-s-e." Of course it took Irene a few seconds to regain her senses, but when once she did this there wan no let up to the joy and fan until the home going hoar had arrived. The evening was enjoyed as only twenty young, jolly girls and boys know how and to say the least, not a single moment was wasted in idleness thruout the en­ tire evening. At a late, or early, hour, whichever way you see fit to put it, delicious refreshments were served. Mrs. Fred Rossman passed away at her home on Wankegan street at nine o'clock on Monday morning of this week after a long and painful illness. Her husband preceded her to the great beyond sev­ eral years ago and she is survived by two eons, Frank and Edward.
