In the primary room the children have been eagerly hunting as many floors and seeds as could be found for the month of September. During the past month the eighth grade has been wrestling with the metrio system. The sixth grade and fractions are becoming acquainted, while the fifth grade is reviewing last year's work. Every Friday the pupils of the four upper grades enjoy an old fashioned spell down. In the first one Mabel Kline was first, Sadie Risley, second; in the second, Gertrude Haughawout; in the third, Edith Letsler and Lois Levey. The third grade pupils are trying to master simple fractions, while the first and second grades are interested in Mother Goose rhymes and retelling fairy tales. The first graders have been taking great pains in reproducing some characters from fairy tales. The fourth grade pupils have been performing various experiments with different kinds of soils and have been keeping a weather record. They have also attempted to study the move ments of the sun, altho the weather conditions have made it rather diffi cult. Those who were neither absent nor tardy during the past month are Em ma Weiland, Dorothy Letsler, Sadie Risley, Edith Letsler, Lois Levey, Mary Bonnichsien, Florence Salow, Evelyn Allen, Mabel Kline, Gertrude Haughawout, Willie Weiland, Howard Kingman and Kenneth Risley. Few visitors have come to us this month, but during the coming w^eeks we hope to see more of our patrons among us. Those who have visited us are Ralph Walkup, Gertrude Wright, Rachel French, Lucy Benson, Harold Walkup, Erdon Dryer, Helen Reed, Genevieve Goddard and Ruth Kline. A debate is soon to take place, the contestants being chosen last week. The proposition is, "The Country Of fers Greater Opportunities Than the City." On the affirmative are Emma Weiland, Marjorie Reser and Sadie Risley. on the negative are Helen Carlson, Mabel Wille and Gertrude Haughawout. VOLO. A. Strom of Chicago spent Sunday at Will Huson's.
