WEST NONR£ FLOOR AND FEED HILLS FLATTOftN ADOPTED BY SALOON JOStt*- CM IN TOWN OF MUHENRY ̂ (Contributed) : i The campaign for the vat aide hats made great strides in Johnsburg and along the bay. Several conventions were held in this territory and every thing done along those lines seems to indicate that this section will launch forth its usual strong vote against pro hibition. A good, harmonious, combined effort to regulate all saloon hours in this ter ritory is the immediate result of this new move and it seems has already done a lot to create a good feeling among the women voters. The platform adopted by the saloon keepers of the aforesaid localities is as follows: Johnsburg, McHenry Co., 111. March 21, 1914. Whereas, we realize that the local option campaign is calling attention to many irregularities that may have been unfortunately laid at the door of some saloons, and Whereas, we believe the people as a whole prefer well regulated saloons to prohibition, and Whereas, the saloons in bur terri tory have been left to their individual regulation and pleasure heretofore; We, the undersigned, for the pur pose of removing right-minded objec tions against the saloon and of correct ing abuses, do publicly declare and pleSge ourselves 1. To close our saloons every day at 12 o'clock midnight and to turn out the lights ih said saloon. Dance nights at a. m. 2. To close up all dance halls which may or may not be in connection with the saloon at 12:30 o'clock; further more, never to allow any objectionable dances like the turkey trot, bunny hug, bear or tango or other questionable, improper dances; furthermore, never to allow children under sixteen years of age to dance. 3. To close the front door of the saloons in Johnsburg during high mass in St. John's church on Sundays and holidays of obligation and not to sell or serve drinks in the bar room proper during the princif>al morning service at the church on aforesaid days. We, the undersigned, give these pledges to the women and to all the legal voters of this township and pre cinct and territory and feel ready at any time to respect the wishes and pleasure of the people for a well regu lated saloon.
