Warrqn Foss and wife went to Vermont last Wednesday «to visit his mother. Mrs. Martha Harrison of Waucon- at H. W. Stephenson's Saturday and da visited at George Harrison's and Sunday. Mrs. Florence Lotvell and children of Algonquin were week end visitors at Ed. Whiting's. Mrs. Bertholf of Wisconsin vis ited Mrs. Ole Wolkos and Mrs. Chas. Bacon last week. Our school begins Sept. 6 with William Rawson and Miss Agnes Carey as teachers. Miss Irma McCannon of Gieen- wood spent part of last week with Ringwood relatives. Mesdames Edith McCannon and Emma Brink spent Wednesday,, and Thursday in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Bloss of Salem, Wis., visited at H. W. Allen's Satur day night and Sunday. Mrs. Colby Moss of Libertyville visited Mrs. Mary Bell from Thurs day to Saturday of last week. Little Arline Southwlck of Will iams Bay visited at J. C. Ladd's and W. E. Smith's the last of the week. Mesdames Florence and Jessie Smith were visiting in Chicago Wed- nesdey and Thursday of last week. The young people very pleasantly surprised Howard Smith last Friday evening, it b^'ug his sixteenth birth day. Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Carter and daughter of Jefferson, Iowa, are vis iting Ringwood and Williams Bay relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Disbro and Mrs. Matie Harrison and two children of Alden were callers in town Thursday of last week. The W. C. T. U. county conven tion will be held in Chemung on Sept. 10 and 11. Mrs. H. D. Hall of Aurora will be the speaker. Jabez Carr of Chicago was brought here for burial Monday. He was born on the Carr farm west of town on March 19, 1838, and died in Chi cago on Saturday, Aug. 21, 1915, aged seventy-seven years. He grew to manhood here and after his mar riage to Esther Harsh resided near this village until about twenty-five years ago, when he went to Chicago to live. His wife passed to the higher life about two years ago. Mr. Can- had many relatives and friends, who will miss his pleasant visits. He leaves one son, Emory, of Chicago, one granddaughter and two little great-grandsons, one sister, Mrs. Libbie Banks, of Chicago, two broth ers, John, of Chicago and Wright, of Woodstock, besides "niece and neph ews to mourn his departure. The funeral was held in the M. E. church, Rev. Thompson of Chicago, assisted by Rev. Baker of this place, officiat ing. Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Walsh of McHenry sang. The Sir Knights of Woodstock and this place had their service, which was very impressive, and he was laid to rest in the Ring- wood cemetery. Relatives and friends were present from Wood stock, Elgin and Chicago. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. RIDGEFIELD ' lira. A. Purvey was an Elgin pas senger Monday morning. Mrs. E. Risvold and chil dren returned from nearly three weeks spent, with relatives in Wis consin. Mrs. Rose Goddard drove over from Ringwood Thursday last and spent the day with Miss Genevieve Goddard. Mrs. Eisenmenger of Crystal Lake is helping to care for her sister, Mrs. F. John Pearson, Nels and Anthony Nelson attended the farmers' picnic at Huntley Sunday. Messsrs. Joel Johnson, Helge Nel son and C. Lilja were fishing at Fox river the first of the week and came home with a big catch. Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Goddard and Mr. and Mrs. S. Reed and daughters of Woodstock spent part of Saturday and Sunday with their relatives here. A number of young people from here went to McHenry Sunday by auto and also to, view the lotus beds, which are so pretty at this time of the year. Messrs. A. Nelson, P. Bonnickson, W. Swensen, C. Glynn Francisco returned to Chi cago Monday after spending his va cation of two weeks here with his mother and other relatives. Harry Francisco returned from the hospital in Chicago Sunday. He is with Sherman brothers and is thought to be getting along fine. Mrs. Sylvia Thompson went to Waukesha, Wis., Saturday last to visit her husband, F. B. Thompson, who is in a sanitarium at that place. Theodora and Lenore Graham of fargo, N. D., granddaughters of Arthur Whiting, have been spending several days here, visiting relatives. Mrs. Till Andrus will care for Mr. Freeman Whiting a couple of weeks while his niece, Mrs. Lou Francisco, who has been caring for him, takes a vacation. VOLO Mrs. Phil Peterson spent.
