Thennes and children spent Sunday in the home of her parents, Mjp. afid Mrs. John J. Freund. A number of our people were at McHenry last Sunday afternoon and evening and witnessed the Sparks circus, whifeh exhibited there that ddy. All were well pleased with what they saw. Mr. and Mrs. Phil Thennes and daughters, Evelyn and Viola, and son, Mervin, motored to Milwaukee* Wis., to spend a few days as guests in the home of the former's parents and rel'- atives. , Jacob Thiel, Henry M. Schaefer, Joseph Thelen and Leo A. Adams of this place have received their two- week notifications and expect to leave Woodstock with the McHenry county contingent for Camp Grant next Thursday. The week's mission, held at St. John's church here last week, came to a very successful close last Sun day evening. In spite of the fact that this is quite a busy season for everyone, the services thruout the entire week were very well attended. Paul Schumacher, Edward Tonyan and Wm. Althoff, the first three Johnsburg boys to answer the rail to the colors, are now safely overseas The boys arrived "over there" a short time ago and their relatives and friends are eager to receive letters that will tell them of their trip across Word was received from Dr. Arnold Mueller this week. The doctor is now stationed at Columbus, S. C.r where he has been made physician and sur geon for officers aqd their families as well as enlisted men. The doctor also writes that he is in line for pro motion, of which we are sure he is quite worthy. Dr. Mueller has made a wonderful progress in his profession since locating at Johnsburg and we expect some excellent reports from him before he returns to again take up his home here. Fred Mueller, who has made his home with his son, Dr. Arnold Muel ler,. during the past six weeks or more, lies critically ill at this writ ing and small hopes are being en tertained for his recovery. Mrs. Mueller has made repeated.efforts to secure a nurse to care for him, but it seems next to impossible to get help of this sort now-adays. The patient is under the care *of Dr. Smith of Woodstock. In case Mr. Mueller's condition should improve he will be takfen to some hospital for treatment. The graduating exercises of the district No. 12 school will take place in St. John's school hall, Johnsburg, June 24,.«t «ight o'clock.
