Will Harris and wife took in the | picture show at Woodstock Sunday evening. Myron Francisco and wife of Wauconda were Sunday callers on relatives in this locality. C. H. Mann and family from near Woodstock visited %ith relatives in this vicinity Sunday. Warren Francisco and sister were business callers at the county seat Thursday of last week. We are informed that Alfred Richardson is still in New York. He does not know when he will be discharged. F. R. Eppel and family spent Sunday with Mrs. Eppel's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Siliimart, south of Woodstock. - Oscar Prahl Was unfortunate in procuring a part of his seed wheat. It was poor and he was obliged to rip up ten acres and sow to barley. Delightfully Entertained Mrs. Geo. H. Johnson delightfully entertained a company of friends at her home on Main street on Tuesday evening in honor of her sister, Mrs. A. K. Burns, who is spending the week as a guest in the Johnson hom^. Bun«o and five hundred furnished amusement for a few hours, after vhich music and stunts of various kinds provided much enjoyment for he merry party. Dainty refreshments were served, all of which were greatly enjoyed by the guests. Enjoying Forced Vacation On account of the milk wagon drivers' strike in Chicago the local bottling plant of the Borden Milk company closed down yesterday morning and will not be open until the end of the strike. The employes are making the best of their foseed vacation. "r „ This is the Jast day of school for the seniprs. The final exams come on Thursday and Friday. Very few exemptions. The senior class play, given last Saturday night for the second time, proved a great success. The members of the 8th grade will spend Saturday, May 17, in Chicago, visiting various places of interest. The annual junior promx is to be held on Friday night. All of the junior girls are busy decorating. Frank Page, Kenneth Peterson," Adele Pufahl and Genevieve Bohr, having been on the honor roll six times this year, will be excused a week earlier than the rest. Tubes of toothpaste, which were donated by the S. S. White Dental Mfg. Co., were distributed tftruout the grades one day this week. Very appropriate for health week. The new flag for the auditorium, purchased by the pupils of room V, is expected at any time and will be hung in the «%ym for the first time on the night of the senior graduation. " Friday was visiting day in Miss Claxton's room. The little visitors jvere: Clement Wirfs, Hazel Heimer, Sylvia* Segel, Richard Wegener, Russell Helm, Harris, Fay, Billy Pries and Harry Vycital. On Friday last we received a very interesting talk on the war from Donald Howe. The talk was received with enthusiasm by the students. He gave an account of a few of his experiences in France and nany interesting facts before tinknown. The student body feel in- 'ebted to this young man and by the lapping that was heard in the other rooms they did their best' to express their gratitude. The Baer cottage, located on Fox river a short distance £outh of this village, is being enlarged and otherwise improved. An enjoyable time was had by those present at the dance given at the Central opera house last evening. Hauswirth's orchestra furnished the music, which was the best heard at the Central in a 'long time. A small blaze discovered in the awning at the Central market on Green street was quickly extin guished on Monday evening of this week..- The careless throwing of a lighted match or cigarette is supposed to have started the blaze.
