The Red Ribbon club of McHenry, having perfected their organization, will meet at the Universalist church on Thursday evening of this week, the 8th inst., at half past seven o'clock. How many more remain in that hole we are unable to say, but the boys are carrying away large strings "almost hourly. May, 1903 Mrs. Jamefe Cleary and daughters left Tuesday for Sioux Falls, S. D., where they will reside. The boys went to Dakota about four weeks ago With the household goods. ^ The Bowman Dairy company is now receiving at its factory in Nunda, 30,- 000 pounds of milk daily. The Chicago demand for cream is so great that the factory is daily skimming a small quantity of milk and selling the cream in Chicago while the skim milk is sold to wr farmers at 8 cents a can. Loren Lanck, son of Rev. S. W. Lauck, met with an accident last Sunday morning that nearly cost him his life, and it was only a one-inch board that stood between him and death. While he was ringing the bell Sunday morning the clapper fell from the bell and before Loren realized what had happened it fell the distance of about twenty feet to the hatchway, breaking the boards and landing on the floor beneath where the=-boy stood. Something struck Loren on the side of the head and knocked him senseless, but whether it was the clapper or one of the broken boards, he does not know. The quotation committee of the Elgin board of trade decided on 20 cents firm as the market price for butter. This vicinity was visited by a heavy frost last Friday night and if the cherry crop does not suffer in consequence it will be miraculous. Most of the trees were in full bloom. A large number of pleasure seekers were out over Sunday and spent the day at Pistakee. About 100 persons boarded the Chicago train bars Sunday evening. ' „ MRS. CHARLES B. HUBBARD Mrs. Charles B. Hubbard, who was formerly a resident of this community, died at her home in San Francisco, Calif., on Saturday, April 21, at 5:30 p. m., of heart trouble. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 25. Effie Tilton was born in McHenry county, Oct. 12, 1863, daughter of WSlliam and Susan Estabrooks Tilton, early settlers of McHenry. She was a cousin of the Henry Colby family of McHenry and was brought up in that family after her mother passed away. Deceased was educated in McHenry and taught school several terms in the county. Her husband, C. B. Hubbard, is sales manager for the California Land Security company, Inc., of San Francisco.
