Although it was an extremely hot night the spectators seemed to stand the heat all right, but it was a little tough on the boxers. Several of the contestants for various reasons, failed to appear, but the management put on eight bouts jast the same, and while there have been better scraps in the past, these were all good amateur bouts and well Worth the price of admission. The first bout was between Howard fcaft of Grayslake and Harry Redden Ct Evanston. Redden was a new boxer at the Prim and was very clever fast, but seemed to have a slightly shorter reach than Kraft, who was an easy 1, 2, 3 round winner, getting f>w judges' decision at the third round. . The second bout did not last long 19 Bud Herman at 150 pounds, was given the decision in the second round pier Cannon Hedges. The third bout was between Billy Bennett, who has appeared at the Prim several times and is the Tribune Golden Glove holder, and Paul Harris at Libertyville, who is quite well known at the Prim. They boxed at 150 pounds. Bennett was just too clever for Harris and easily took all three rounds, and was declared the winner in the third round by the jwiges. The fourth bout was at 170 pounds and Frank Smith of Wauconda, who appeared in the ring for the first time, was knocked out in the second TCDnd by Joe Nuss of Belle Plaine C. Fifth bout was at 128 pounds and Wauconda's Irishman, Mickey Shannon, made Joe Pitts of Evanston go fnfrr rounds. Pitts is a very clever hoy, who took the first round easily, while the second and third were even with Pitts getting the decision in the fourth. This was a very good even Rattle and hard for the crowd to pick the winner. The sixth bout at 122 pounds was won in the third round by A1 Amazolone, Wisconsin's bantam weight champion. His opponent was Nick Malano of Chicago, who, although not as clever a boxer as his opponent, could not be knocked out and undoubtedly would have tired A1 out, with a possible knockout, in a'six or seven-round battle. The seventh bout was at 135 pounds and Lyle Drake of Kenosha took on Eddie Schiff of Chicago. Drake was an easy winner, taking all three rounds. • , The final bout was between Billy Blue and Pete Serreda of Chicago at 116 pounds.
