The' Metropolitan Casualty Insurance Company had sent word that they were discontinuing Work-nans' Compensation Insurance and Wouia cancel the County's policy April 15th, 1934. Several agents were asked to submit bids' for said insurance but same does not seem to be desirable business, as only one company, The Hartford Accident and Indemnity Company submitted a bid and they only on condition that the Public liability and also the automobile or truck policies be also turned over to» them and that we also recommend that said insurance be kept in said company for a term of years. We believe the above Insurance is necessary and recommend that the above policies be cancelled and- that Workman's Compensation policy be awarded to- Richard C. Burton of Richir -nd, Illinois and the Public Liability and the .Automobllt policies, be awarded to Harry B. Nienstedt of Woodstoc!., Illinois, agents for the Hartford Accident & Indemnity ' Company of Hartford, Connecticut, and that said company be given first consideration for next year's business. The relief work program was discussed. The Fox Farm Road, west ot Woodstock and the Chappel Hill Road of. McHenry are projects approved for said program. We think the county has not available, at the present time, sufficient trucks-t»r--money to go into program on a large scale. However, if we were to furnish picks, shovels and wheel barrows, considerable desirabie work could be accomplished at small expense to th' County and a large number ol men could be employed. We have allowed the County Superintendent o_f. Highways to initiate said read, using two of the County's trucks, road, using two of the County's ttrucks. The County has to furnish the trucks :>.nd drivers go get the workmen and return them and "keep their time. We feel that this is a problem for the next Road and 'Uridge Committee to work out and should receive the consideration of the w"io'e Bodrd as the County Road and Bridge Tax has beeti decreased more than one third in the last two years and we have had to cut down the time of the regular rond employees to below the so-called living' waje.
