Buss, Jr., aged 8 and 7 years, had been accidentally drowned in the mill pond. ' Afr they were alone at the time of the accident, it is mostly a matter of con jecture as to how the accident happened. As near as we can learn the circumstan ces are about as follows^ Lillie and Bennie started from home some time between one and two o'clock, Lillie in tending to go to the German church to practice for Flower Day, while Bennie was going to the pond to fish until her return. On their way they stopped for l^en Laurer's little girl, who was also go ing to the church. When they arrived at the mill pond Lillie. stopped to help her little brother bait his hook, while the Laurer girl walked on toward the church. Near the point where they stopped was a spring board that was used by bathers, and on this it appears they, both went, and it is supposed that Bennie fell in and his sisler either jumped in to save him or fell in while trying to get him out. Willie Foltz, who happened along some time after, saw a body in the pond and ran to the store of Owen & Chapell and gave the alarm. L. H. Owen being the first to get there jumped in and carried the boy out, and not knowing that there was another One commenced the work of trying to resusitate him._It was, per haps, from three to five minutes before he was told ̂ there was another one in the water, when he rushed in again and brought out the little girl. Dr. Fegers and Dr. Abt were immediately summon ed, and with the help of many willing hands worked faithfully for over two hours over the inanimate bodies, but without avail. Death had claimed them and they were beyond the skill of man. The funeral was held on Monday fore noon, from the German Catholic church and was one of the largest ever seen in this village. The floral offerings, both at the church and house, were abundant and. beautiful, and showed the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community for the bereaved parents in their double affliction. They were unusually quiet, and bright children, and the pride of their parents The mother, who has been an invalid for the past two or three years, being unable to walk, will perhaps miss them the most, as they were attentive to her every want, and waited upon her with a cart and patience greatly beyond their years fn this great affliction both father and mother have the deepest sympathy of all. and wife, in this ?iUage.r„ ̂ J.ohft-Boyle wefe amongthosa^rom 1this Miss KATE WEBEB, of Chici guest of her brother, Nick Weber, east of this village. "Consolidated" Field Jb'encinir. We would call the particular ,attention of farmers to the advertisement, to be found in another column, of the "Con solidated" Field Fencing, E. H. Thomp son, of this town, agent. It iB claimed for the "Consolidated" Field Fencing that, as a field fence, it has positively no equal. All large wires of the best quality Bessemer steel are used, insuring greater strength than in any other, because in all other field fences some small wire is used. The crimp in the strand wires pro vides for expansion and contraction. The stay or vertical wires cannot be spread apart The fence can readily be put up on uneven ground without cut ting or splicing. In fact, it is the best fence that money and injenuity can de vise, and free from all the defects observ ed in other fences. The fence is put up in neat roles of 40 rods. The top and bottom wires are No. 6; all other strand wiresareNo.il; vertical or stay wires No. 12. Stays in all regular fence 12 inches apart.
