Invalid, but still mentally alert, this eighty-threeyear- old inventor of the graphaphone (not gramaphone), dictaphone and many other things in common use today, now resides in San Diego, Calif. Admitting that Edison came out with a talking machine which recorded on tinfoil in 1877, Taintor boasts the first practical machine which recorded on wax. First patents granted to Taintor on this were issued in May, 1886. At one time he was associated with Graham Bell for nearly two years during which time he perfected the photo-phone. John P. Weber can still show those PF young sprouts a thing or two, but S John is chopping wood down all the .0 tins and ought to know his maples. . 4 | Freddie Meyers is good, but he hates 1 all that noise around a bowling alley. 1 Just a quiet soul, that Freddie. Captains are Joe H. Weber, Vernon Freund, Peter A. Freund and John Weber. --I-- Would any of you readers know who I "Jebbie" Engeln is. That's an old nick-name. "Jebbie" wears white soles on his boots to act as headlights on dark nights. We saw him duck into a doorway one day recently, remove a police star from his vest and tuck it safely away in a metal cigarette case. NoW, do you know "Jebbie"? --I--r Due to illness on the first squad of basketball players, Coach Reed took Donald Meyers from the second squad for the Richmond and Genoa City games. The boys worked nicely with Donald and he gave a fine account of himself. While he may not be quite ready for the grind of tougher games, we expect him to develop into a fine player during the next couple of years. Donald has a pal, Irv Laures, who knows how to handle a baskeball, too. You'll be hearing from him as future teams develop. Mermaid Tarsra Mermaid tavern was a Ismous tavern in London frequented by such literary personages as Shakespeare, Ben Jonson, Beaumont, Fletcher and their friends.
