SKATING AT CLAY HOLE This is a great season for skating, coasting and skiing and for several weeks many have enjoyed the outdoor sports. The skating pond, better known as the clay hole, is being kept in fine shape by the city council and is flooded often to keep smooth skating. The Drunkard" •;vT > " your ®. unv E. , bat v The last time I took my shoes over to Mike, the Shoemaker, for repairing, as I always do, it so happened that he was not tftere. As I was in great need % of them, I took them to a cobbler and asked him if he could fix my shoes, as l$*?Mike was not at home. The cobbler .replied, 'You better always bring y^j shoes here as Mike is a heavy dru ard.' I was surprised to hear that, if-left them there. I, soon had to take ' them back to Mike to have him cor- ~}i rect the miserable job that the cobbler made of them. I also told Mike what the cobbler said about him and Mike said that there are such flatheada ?'.> who try to blackmail others just to increase their business. He also told ^ • me to tell the cobbler that if he needs a strong casing for his ftathead--He can make one. You see, Mack, as he is a trained Shoemaker and not a cobbler, he makes All kinds of casings for things that are crippled--new shoes for crippled feet, as well as making new shoes out of old ones. Oh! I thought so right away that Mike could not be such a heavy drunkard as. the cobbler said or he couldn't do all this, and correct things made by people who always look sober, but are always drunk, and also sell the well known GRIMSRUD QUALITY SHOES at the lowest prices for such a long time in POPP'S SHOE STORE West McHenry, Illinois Main Street Phone 162 More next week in this same corner V S/WSA^VNAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA/I BOWUHQ Thorsril CO. There was little doubt in most minds about the outcome. Hebron's regulars^ could certainly stop McHenry after trie way they bottled 'em uq in the first half. But, the McHenry boys had found their fight and were out for victory.. Paul Justen was playing the game 1Q of his life under the defensive basket. Harry Conway was showingJiis power under the offensive basket. The other boys were following the fight of those two powerhouses: LeRoy dropped a pretty shot. Hebron tied it up at 47 all. Things were happening fast with little time to spare. Harry Conway got under the basket and sunk the winner. Five seconds to go. Hebron was desperate to get that ball for one final long shot at their basket. A held ball cleverly manipulated by McHenry ended Hebron's hopes.
