And the roll being called said motion was declared unaitimousiy carried. The Committee on Roads and Bridges made the following report which on mo- 44on ©f Supr. Ackman and duly seconded by Supr. Harrison and the roll being called was declared unanimously adopted. to-wit: Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen of the Board of Supervisors, McHenry County, Illinois: The undersigned members of the road and bridge committee for said County would beg leave to submit the following rennrt on the matters before them: That we met on the 12th day of May, 1937 with the road and bridge committee of Boone County. Illinois and inspected the County line bridges hefween the two counties. At the Harmason Bridge a 40 ft span about 40 rods south of S. B. I Ht. 173 the south approach had washed out and the benms that held the piank backing had clipped off the mud-sill of the beadstead tvpe bridge, and the plank backing was badly rotted It was decided to reppair the bridce by putting on creosoted plank backing on the south abutment, new creosoted plank wines, « lines of new plank lengthwise of the bridge floor, strengthen the steel uprights of the truss with new U bolts ind tie hack the wings and abutment beams with steel rods leading to deadmen anchors buried in the road. It was also decided that Boone County would brine their gasoline shovel and straighten the course of the creek west of the bridee and ?ilso remove a willow. At the Tanner Bridee the plank backine of the south east wing was rotted awav and- n washout and eavein in the road had formed. It was decided to put In a new plank backing, on the wing wall and re-flll same. T creosoted planks had been put in floor last year by the County. At the McCue bridge in the Town of Riley the concrete floor was breaking up probably because the floor beams I01 8tlfr enou8"h and it was decided that Boone County was to remove the old concrete floor and put on a new plank floor. We then Inspected the State aid roads m the Town of Riley and planned for considerable gravelling and some tiling Your Committee also met on Mav 14 aU 18 and on June 1st and 3rd and inspected all the roads on the State Aid system in the County and planned for gravelling, widening and draining manv places in so far as the funds available will permit. Several dangerous places were noted and ordered improved, at the June 1st meeting we also inspected the work gtrfng on south east of Huntley from the MFT funds In view of the bad breakup of roads in general this spring the State /requested that the grade of the road be raised which necessitates about" in,000 cubic yard's of barro\y instead of 4000 eu! jud's: as planned. We interviewed the workmen and viewed the barrow pit and approved the purhase of the material at •joe per cu. yd. The County's new Diesel tractor and 9 yd;, scraper and also the Barber-Green loader were foeinp used to load the filling into trucks. If one machine was busy a truck would go to |he other machine, thus as h1eh as 800 cu. yds. of gravel and earth filling has been hauled on to the road with eight trucks in a day. The County now has about 7 miles >f asphalt roads on the State Aid Sysem and this mileage came through the past winter in excellent shapa? .
