Special July Meeting 1939 The Honorable Board of Supervisors of MoHcenry County, Illinois, met in Special Session pursuant to a call signeu by more than one-third of its members at the Court House in the City of Woodstock, on Tuesday, the eleventh day of July, A. D. 1939 at ten-thirty o'clock A M. (DST). The meeting was called to order by the Chairman, Roy J. Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen of the Board of Supervisors: Your Committee on Eradication of Tuberculosis in Cattle would beg leave to report that they met In the office of the County Veternarian in Woodstock, Illinois, on June 27, 1939, with full membership present, together with Dr. B. F. Kennelly, County Veterinarian, and took up the matter of the renewal of the contract of the County Veterinarian for the ensuing year. Your Committee would recommend that Dr. B. F. Kennelly be reappointed County Veterinarian for McHenry County for the period beginning July 1, A. D. 1939 and ending not later than June 30, 1940, at the same salary and expense allowance that he has received during • he past year, and that upon his apoointment he enter into contract with the Board of Supervisors to administer the Tuberculin Test In McHenry County, and that said salary and expense agreements be made a part of said contract. We also inspected the .driving of sheet piling around the abutments of the Cash Bridge near Lawrence to protect |t from stream scour. We then went to spring Grove, Illinois ana inspected the construction of MFT Section 13. The grading is very beavy and several tills oi thirteen (13) to fifteen (15; feet neight are necessary. The grading Is neaung completion. We afaain met on the 21st day of June to inspect the construction = of an asphalt lime rock seal coat on the Ridgeneiu roau, Known as Mi?T Section 4-J.T. Tne worn appearea to oe very well done and the roau was very smooth. We again met on the 28th day of June at Huntley, Illinois, to negotiate for tne. purchase of some eight thousand (8000) cubic yards of gravel proposed to be crushed in connection with the black topping of the road leading southeast out of Huntley. We received permission to take tne necessary gravel from tne Lida L. Ranaail farm, about tnree 13) miles west of Huntley, Illinois, at ten cents (10c) per cubic yard, and decided to move the crusmng plant to said location in the near future. We decided to concentrate on the cutting of Canada thistles on the State Aid roads and divided the mileage, the same to be looked alter by the nearest member of the Committee. Your Finance Committee, begs leave to report that they met at the Osurt House in Woodstock, Illinois, on Monr day, June 26th„ 1939, at'the call of the chairman of the Board. We would report that It has been calked to our attention that a large amount of personal property taxes covering the years 1S34, 1936, 1936 and 1937 remain uncollected as shown on Abatement Record in the county treasurer's office. We find upon examination of those listfi that With few exceptions no reason is given for nee collection of said taxes &s required by law. We also find that mahy of the pepsoils to whom said taxes were assessed own large amounts o£ property and are well able to pay same, in many cas$s these persons own real estate and the personal taxes could have been attached to-ftnv portion cit said real estate and collected with the. real estate taxes. The following Resolutions for the improvement of seven and tour-tenth's Hiiles of the secondary highway from McHenry to Crystal Lake, known as S. It was the opinion of several Supervisors that although they Were in accord with the feeling expressed in SUpr. Ackman's motion, they did liot feel it wise to adopt such a motion at this time, arter which Supr. Ackman and Supf. Filip withdrew their motion and second. They also request that the said route* be designated as a State Aid Road. Mr. Bailey and Mf.
