RIN-NB FLOOt WAX BOLGER'S DRUG STORE McHenry j Grandma Horn, her charming i daughter, Mrs. Ann .Horn, ana ! grandson, Edwin, were the honored guests at an open house reception at ; the home of Jerry and Betty Cermak last Sunday. This dear little old i lady, who has gained hundreds of friends in the past, seventeen years in our community „with her kindly smile and friendly greetings, moved to more comfortable quarters provided for her by her daughter in Cicero some six months ago. All of McCullom Lake missed this little angel, especially the kiddies. Grandma had a way with the youngsters. What if it did take her ten years to collect for the many candy bars she slipped into their lunch pails on the sly. Grandma just couldn't see Johhnie and Mary go off to school ' Without a little tidbit to make their lunches taste a bit better. These ! same Johnnies and Marys, some ! seventeen years older, were among j the many who filed into the Cermak j home last Sunday afternoon to shake I the little lady's hand and plant a , hearty kiss on her wrinkled cheek. They haven't forgotten. All these expresisons brought tears of joy to the eyes of the angel of McCullom Lake. It was a great day for both grandma and her friends. To add to * her enjoyment Jerry projected many reels of film on the screen, photographic records of events that took place in our community during the past six months. Among the many guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Otto Pyritz, Otter Ebert, Mr. and Mrs. Len Jensen, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sawdo, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Struck, Mr. and Mrs. Earl 'Whiting, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Kaminski, Mr. and Mrs. John Steinbach, Jerry and Mary Steinbach, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Thomsen, but, why go on mentioning names, suffice it to. say that 90% of McCullom Lake's population were present at this affair. To express our sentiments, we say come ftp and see us again real soon. We love you gTandma! tha Ptf and. Ma the same thrill when the young couple arrived at McCullom Lake. Welcome home. Anyway it's the meatball ticket that gets our crisscross next month and you can't blame a guy for that. Last Saturday being the second Saturday of the month, the Screwy Dozen again let loose with a hangup party at the Roy-Al community center to honor Winfield Pietsch. It was "Old Timbers" ninety-third birthday anniversary and little did he dream of the many surprises the above group had prepared for him. No less than a hundred guests attended this gala affair. There was music and other entertainment. A delicious midnight supper, which included a huge birthday cake with ninety-three candles on it and it took all the breath old timber was capable of exhaling to blow the flame out after three attempts. While the folks were enjoying the repast. President Jerry Cermak announced that the Screwy Dozen will have their Halloween costume party at the Roy-Al Inn on Oct. 26 and invited all to attend. ation at the Loretta hospital in Chicago.
