J It was dinner time v.-nen the call Hme in at Lake View Inn. A froman's excited voice on the {jhone screaming, "Fire! Wonder Woods!" Then she hung up. J All of the diners left their dintiers; after the siren sounded, the Volunteer firemen poured out of flefr homes; the fire chief. Bill bright and his assistant. George Qutzman, got the little truck rollpg. Everyone answered the call lor helping Wonder Woods. About |60 cars came in all tore to the ather side of the lake. '!• 8ince the woman who phoned (ad not given her name, no one knew exactly where the fire was 90 every side road in the Wonder Woods subdivision was traversed before the firemen gave up. There fras no fire. « The fire department in Wonder l*ake is not yet a separate fire district. If it were, giving a false Alarm is punishable by iine or frtson--or both. However, even in the unorganized state at present, fives are jeopardized as the volunteer firemen risked their necks tpeeding to help in time of need. ^ M. W. Woodward, speaking for the subdivision association, said plat the officers of the association Were deeply grateful to those who tome at the call. He said, also, that the responsible folks in Wonier Woods are sorry about the Vrhole thing. Woodward pointed that a fire out in the country n be such a dreadful thing that ee people on the west side of the ke are very glad to -have a fire department so close that responds |0 quickly. ' The real loser on the Sunday peal was LaGreca* He set up all fresh hot dinners for the folks who gone out on the fire call.
