PASTOR LIBERTY Be careful when operating tractors, discs and plows! Don't let your children ride on tractors and other farm machinery! Illinois farmers can save many lives--their own and their children's-- if they will follow these two safety rulers this spring, according to John Lake, safety director for the Illinois Agricultural Association. Observing these safety measures is especially important now, he said, because farmers are busy with spring work. And spring farm work is more daagerous than farmers realise. Lake said reports show that onethird of all tractor accidents happen during May and June. Many accidents with discs and plows also occur during these two months. But they can be avoided if farmers will be more careful, he said. "One of the best ways to be careful is not to get in a hurry while operating farm machinery. Trying to cut safety corners to save time often proves costly," Lake declared. "It means broken arms and legs, hospital bills and lost time. "A late sprftig has made farmers late with their work, and they're all in a hurry. But they'll be farther ahead of they're careful." The old saying--better to be sate then sorry--still goes. VETERANS' DENTAL EXAMINATION MUST RECEIVE APPROVAL Dental examinations for World War II veterans to determine eligibility for treatment at government expense will not be paid by Uncle Sam unless auhorlzed prior to the exam, the Illinois Veterans Commission has pointed out. Many veterans have taken it upon themselves to have their teeth examined by their own dentists under the mistaken impression that the government would pay the bill or at least reimburse them for the expense involved. A veteran who believes he is entitled to dental treatment at government expense must first file a claim If his service records show that dental work was performed in service the government may authorize an examination at their expense. From the examination they will also determine whether service-connection is established for further treatment Service officers of the Illinois Veterans Commission know the procedure for filing claims for dental treatment and should be consulted by veterans who desire dental service. Order your- rubber The Plalndealer. stamps at ^ ThankYou FelttI , It is with considerable council pride that we record here the fact that on last Sunday, April 30, Mc- Henry Council witnessed the attendance of one of ita largest representations at the most important spiritual activity of the semiannual Communion Sunday. Varying estimates were made pf the large group of members and their families who joined in Holy Mass and the receptiop of Holy Communion at St. llary's church, but without having the actual record, and estimate of a little over 100 would be conservative. Rev. Father Baumhofer celebrated the mass, and gave a very appropriate sermon. After mass, members and their families attended a breakfast In the school hall, and were recipients of a very fine bacon and egg repast, a minimum of speeches, all within a time period of less than an hour. For the fine arrangements and disposition of the customary and usual activities connected with this event, we thank the Catholic activities committee, whose energetic efforts were amply awarded by the splendid turnout. Next Xeetlif Thursday night, May 11. we expect to have a very interesting meeting. The G. K. will call to order promptly at 8:30 p.m., and he promises that the various committees will have some fine reports to make. The business portion of the evening should be over in. about an hour.
