*hnnd»jr, 1*0 hauidiaus *his is the last time I will be writing these notes as your pastor. Conference is coming and by this i next week a new minister be appointed to McHenry. We have done a lot together daring these past five years, f t has been a period of growth for all of us, the community, the church,. and toy yours truly, and I pray that growth may continue for all concerned, as Peter says, "grow in grace, aad in knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." 4||rhe five years we have spent in KKHenry is full of unforgetable memories. It was here that Wayne Albert and Luclnda were born. It was during this pastorate that I completed my required ministerial studies, was ordained an "elder" In the Methodist church and accepted as a full member of conference. While here we have made many, many friends. Many things have been done v<0hin the church itself. We all feel that there has been quite v a bit of progress made, which has not been the pastor's doing but the work and cooperation of those interested in the church and interested in serving the Lord. True there have- been mistakes in which we all share and all regret but through which we have learned ft great deal. (jftn sorry that the parsonage is n™ now completed for the new minister, to move into but a few legal matters had to be cleared up before we could complete negotiations for a mortgage to complete the building. These have now been cleared up and work will be finished in a very short time. At the Board meeting the other evening, new officers were elected for the coming year. The past# iWill be chairman, Vale Adams, y i c e r c h a i r m a n ; M r s . B u r t o n French, secretary; and Miss Jeri Nimtz, treasurer. A report on the finance campaign . was made which pointed out that we were about to the goal on the needs of the parsonage and world service budgets and about a third of the way toward the current rupnirfg expense budget. We sincerely hope folk who have neglected to S&ld in their pledge cards will do "irty wifhin the very neat* future. • Since next Sunday is Conference Sunday there will be no morning Worship service, there will be Sunday School, however. With no morning worship this Sunday, 1 «P't close by saying "See you in Church Sunday" but I can say I Hope that you will continue to use that as your motto during the years to come. Goodbye, God bless you and thanks for many, many wonderful THE PRICES ^ AH> INVESTIGATORS The Illinois Public Aid CJocmission has to date checked 5,121 cases representing about 30 per cent of the 16,000 families who are on aid to dependent children rolls because, divorced, deserting or mlfesing fathers are not supporting them, according to Carl K. Schmidt, Jr., executive secretary. Since January, the commission has dropped 437 families from the ADC rollB after inducing fathers to take over full support, and has reduced state aid to 328 other families, Schmidt said. He estimated about $54,000 a month in public funds has thus been saved, and announced that the commission will continue its investigjations until all ADC families have been exjajnined. 1 Cankerworms • • irms which loop along twigs and leaves of trees have their upi and downs, too.
