SAYS GENTLER SEX Today, drivers have enough trouble keeping their eys op the road without worrying about the comforts of the woman who is sitting alongside, according to a bulletin issued by the Chicago Motor Club. Sucli courtesies as opening doors, lighting cigarettes and picking gloves and packages off the car' floor are no longer considered good automobile manners. The bulletin cites the practice of holding doors open for women as an example. It points out that when a motorist assists someone in or out of his car. it is often necessary for •hiiii to step into a traffic lane. This creates a traffic hazard. Women can help curb the accident rate by tuning radios, opening windows, turning on heaters, and performing other courtesies that distract drivers. The gentler sex may feel that the "good ole days" are disappearing but so are motorests who have failed to adopt a modern attitude towards driving. SettleTenant CompYainis In County Conferences J. Edwin Porter, associate rent director of the Woodstock defense rental area, has announced that an increasingly large precent&ge of tenant complaints are being satisfactorily settled in conferences at the Woodstock defense rental area station. A total of 95 per cent of all justifiable complaints in the Woodstock defense rent a1 area station are being settled amicably by. this Voluntary conference plan. This haa caused a proportionate decline in the number of cases turned over to the legal depart* ment for possible court action. Mr. Porter says that this Indicates a high degree of cooperation between landlords and tenants in the Woodstock defense rental area atid is of immeasurable help in keeping low the nnahwr ft cases that go to court. 4 miles southwest of Grayslake, 2 miles west of Hwy.
