Norman Knaack First In Shoot (by Philip Wheelock) Boy and Girl Scouts will play a 'prominent' part in events of tbe forthcoming International Dog' Show, which is scheduled for March 17 and 18 in the InternatlonT al Amphitheatre in Chicago. Special sterling silver trophies for them are being offered for highest ranking Boy and Girl Scouts in the show's junior dog judging contest. The contest is designed to enoourage youngsters in judging dogs. Officials of the International Kennel club, sponsors of the show, say that a large number of scouts in the Chicago area are now receiving special training in judging dogs for conformation. Many of them will participate in the contest. - Any boy Of girl, whether Scout or not, between 10 and 20 years old, may enter the event, which is slated for Saturday. March 17. No entry fee is charged. SJx breeds of^dogs will be judged in as many Classes of four to a class. Breeds selected for the 1951 contest are English Setters, Dachshunds, Shetland Sheepdogs. Scottish Terriers, and Schipperkes. The young judges will be judged, in turn, on their placing* of each class, and their reasons for their placings, by two nationally known experts. Walter Reeves, Oakville. Ontario, and Percy Roberts of Norton, Connecticut. Joseph Ackerman of Chicago, who is superintendent of the collegiate livestock judging contest of the International Live Stock Exposition, will superintend the event. The contest is a part of the big two-day show that will have conformation classes for nearly 100 breeds of dogs, field trials for gun dogs and" obedience classes.
