Niesman of Crystal Lake has been awarded the standard first aid certificate; upon completion of an Armysponsored course in accident prevention and first aid. Accidents in Eurtipe are costing American taxpayers, over a halfmillion dollars monthly, according to military sources. The Red' Cross was asked to help reduce these figures by setting up educational safety courses for service personnel. Cpl. Niesman, who is with the General Dispensary at Augsburg, Germany, was chosen for the safety school by his commanding officer. He was given Instruction in both the prevention of accidents and the proper first aid care of accident victims. The Red Cross safety program has met with widespread approval by Army and Air Force authorities in Germany, England and Austria. h In answer to the request of the military civilian defense in this country, first aid classes are attracting active participants across McHenry county. Two-hundredthree persons have been certificated since July 1 in Harvard, McHenry, Algonquin, Wonder Lake and Woodstock. At. present the volunteer firemen of • Woodstock and another class of - twenty-four are in first aid classes in Woodstock and on the twenty-third of May the newly organized group of volunteer firemen of Lily Lake, under the chairmanship of Claude F. McDermott, will start at tbe Club Lilymoor. Everybody reads the want ads. If; DR. HENRY FREUND OPTOMETRIST > Jllgftt 196 S. Green Street.
