Now, however, they are embarking on a program which will supply business and industry with vitally needed materials to help them select better employees, increase operating efficiency and the effectiveness of supervision, cut costs and educate employees to better understanding of the American Way. The many products turned out by Science Research are too numerous to mention. Included in the aids to students of all ages is the SRA Reading Accelerator, an instrument designed to increase reading rate and facilitate better comprehension. Another is a Reading-Ease C a l c u l a t o r , a> simple device for measuring difficulty level of written material. The Kuder books by the professor of psychology of Duke University have become extremely popular and have been widely used. They are in the field of reading improvement material. Some t e s t s p u b l i s h e d by Science Research are now being used in the local schools. Among other publications is a new book, "Tour Rugged Constitution," which is devoted to in- ItHBltim «n ths the United States. It extremely popular since it lint became available to the public and in one Southern state it is being used in all high schools. Probably best known and most widely used of all are the Better Living booklets for Children, which are available for all age groups and deal with almost every phase of better living, including manners, heredity, choosing a career, facts about aloohol and growing up socially, among many. Stevenson accepted for the people of Illinois and the State Historical library Lincoln manuscripts valued at $70,000 from the Barrett Lincoln Collection Fund committee. These rare papers include fourteen letters from Lincoln to his Intimate friend Joshua F. Speed, for which $35,000 was paid. There are also 23 other letters and 28 documents In Lincoln's handwriting, and numerous letters and papers of his Coles county relatives, and many newspapers of the Civil War period and earlier. All this material will be on display at the Historical library until after the public schools close for the summer, so that it may be seen by the many school groups which visit Springfield at this time of year.
