Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Huska, Sr., are, happy to announce the Mr. Bailey, president of the C u 11 o m-Knoll association, announces that a complete list and compilation of figures in regard to the Knollwood road program has been prepared. This list will be placed on the plaque, located at Balke's corner. The list shows the names of about eighty-five property owners in Kmftlwood, who by their indifference, are holding up a worthwhile program, which is being subscribed to by an overwhelming majority. The committee wishes to stress the fact that while July 15 has been set for the deadline, they will hold off for a few days in order to concentrate upon these property owners who are holding up the project. The committee feels it is a shame to penalize the majority for a few. P.S. Everyone in Knollwood should scrutinize this list and assist in contacting the laggards. There was the head of the household's discarded overooat, a pair of trousers, some outgrown suits and shoes of Junior's, and sweaters, skirts, and a wool dress or two that she could no longer wear. • All, these, together with similar items from thousands of other American housewives, added up to more than five million pounds of clothing that American Relief for Korea has currently shipped to South Korean civilians. That Americans' generosity is appreciated by the Koreans is attested to by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. George M. Carroll, who has just returned to this country after twenty-on£ years in Korea. Rabies A Serious Problem In State Control of rabies is a big job facing Illinois. The disease endangers both humans and animals; it can become widespread and serious at any time. Once it has developed, it is fatal--4t can't be cured, but it can be pre** vented. , • Dogs give the disease to humans in 85 to 90 percent of the cases. If all dogs were vaccinated, we could soon wipe out the reservoir of infection which exists in the state. Specialists * .v ' ' - Health P a u l i n e ! Brimhall, University of Illinois College of Agriculture, emphasizes voluntary community control as the best way to fight the disease. A county or community rabies committee, made up of health officials, veterinarians, and public-spirited people from both rural and urban areas can do much to help reduce this hazard. Organized community action would make sure that all dogs in the community are vaccinated against rabies. This could be a requirement for getting a. dog license.
