We hope the following recipe comes close to being her idea of what a white cake ahould be. White cake. v % cup butter 1 cup sugar 2 cups cake flour ' ^4 tsp. salt 3 tsp. baking powxfer 3 egg whites % cupful milk 1 tsp. vanilla " - Cream butter thoroughly, add sugar and beat well. Sift flour once before measuring, then sift twice with the baking powder and salt. Beat the egg whites until light and fluffy but not dry. A wire whip for this will leave eggs more moist than the usual egg beater or electric mixer. To the creamed butter and sugar add alternately the % cupful milk and the flour mix» ture.
