Two new members were accepted, Mrs. Eugene Rogers and „her mother, Mrs. Nicholas Parlipilo, of PlstaKee Bay. Mrs. C- A. Thornton brought her mother, Mrs. Vaughan, who is active in garden club activities in Texas. A beautiful silk American Flag and standard will be presented to the Brownie troop that is sponsored by the Garden club. It was obtained by Mrs. M. J. Gallagher from her Tent No. 82 of The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. Mrs. George Johnson, chairman, is making collections ^of jams, jellies, candy, perfume, soap, etc., to be distributed to orphan asylums, children's hospitals, and old people's homes, under the auspices of the Fruit and Flower guild. The dates for the 1953 flower show have been set as Aug. 21 and 22. Mr. C. H. Duker notified the Club that the school board had granted permission for use of the cafeteria. Plans for the show are almost completed and will be announced next spring. It is not too early to emphasize that the public is not only welcome but is urged to exhibit. The d e 1 i c i o u 8 home-made cheese cake, nut cake and hot spiced cider served by the hostess helped the members to ignore the cold wind and rain as they departed.
