Hayes, president of the Chicago Motor club, has pre dieted a IS per cent rise in foreign travel for 1963. Hayes pointed out that there are several contributing causes for this: 1. World War IX brought Europe closer to millions of people who served there, or who had relatives stationed there. It made it a familiar everyday place to the great mass .of the American public. 2. The post-war period seen a 30 per cent incerase in persons receiving vac ation-withpay, thus increasing the general field of prospective travelers. 3. Low "eff-season" rate* abroad and new tourist air farep which alone account for a 60 per cent increase in foreign travel. This revolution in travel, ^Haye said, is net merely a post-wjboom, but a definite pattern ir tourism that is here to stay. A total of 812,644 U. S. citizens departed by sea and ai during 1952. This was an increase of 22 per cent over the preceding year. "The breakdown in citizen travel," Hayes stated, "shews 477,811 going by air and 334,833 by sea. The European total of 322,868, however, shows 206,559 going by sea and 116,- 309 by air.' Last year the majority of Americans abroad were in the $3,000-17,000 income bracket. This represents %n all-time record in foreign travel. ' JUDICIAL REFORM Governor William G. Stratton has announced he would submerge one personal objection in an effort to assure unified support for tire- -judicial reform article in the General Assembly. The governor said he is setting aside temporarily his objection to the inclusion of the provision that one-half of the' nominating committee shall consist of lawyers. "The over-all question of Judicial revision is paramount," Governor Stratton said. Bead the Want Ads! Frank S. May BLACK OTlRT Sand - Gnvtl - DriTtwiyi Excavating Rouie 5.
