Clarence Stilling, Elvira Holtz, Florence Schroeder, Leone Tonyan, Jerry Meyers, Evelyn Blake and Florence Blake. A number of these as well as others, had come a great distance to honor their fofmer pastor. .. . May, whose wife, Joan, and parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben May, live in Spring Grove. HI., bat zone Sgt. May, a communications chief in Battery C of the 196th Field Artillery Battalion, arrived in Korea in May 1952. Before entering the Army in September, 1951, May was a farmer. The McHenry F.F.Aers invaded; the state dairy and fatstock jyraging contest at the University of Illinois last Wednesday, June 10, but found the competition of over 300 other F.F.A. chapters very keen. The dairy judging team won a blue ribbon for being in the upper third. Dave Smith won an individual blue ribbon, while Gene Hughes and Ronald May received red ribbons. The fat stock team averaged out in the. middle third of the competition for a team red ribbon and each of the members, Dick Novak,- Arnold Freund and' receive the State Farmer degree Smith, chapter * president and vice-president, were McHenry* official delegate*. Other members vfhtt attended from the local chapter were Gene Hughes, Ronald May, Arnold Freund, Loren Freund, Bob Pepping, Jim De- Young, Harry Diedrich and Tom Thompson. They were just part of over 1,000 Illinois F.F.A. members who helped make this annual convention in honor of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the F.F.A. a big event. Thursday night all members were on hand to witness the State Farmer ceremony, for Arnold Freund of the McHenry chapter was one of the recipients.
