The men and boys of the community worked all last Saturday and a work party was given for them on Sunday when they started building the second floor on the fire and community house. The floor and walls were put on the kitchen too. If the goo<^ weather stays with us, it won't be too long and the buildtgg will have the roof on. Really looks wonderful fellas. Barring rain this coming Sunday, there will be another party given. In case you don't know what a work party is, it means simply that a few of the women in the community will serve the working men and boys dinner and supper up at the building. •Ve were very happy to learn that Dr. and Mrs! .John Gray off Lakemoor brought their little gal Eat at least this muck breakfast by Betty Baker : Breakfast can make the difference between a good or bad morning. For a good morning, breakfast is a must. Not coffee, alone. Nor t surprisingly enough, a whopping big breakfast -- you know the kind, with potatoes on the side. Coffee by itself gives you practically no food value; in contrast, those oversized morning meals are very likely to put you to sleep all ovei again, make you logy and listless. Aim for a happy medium when you put breakfast on the table. Eggs, of course, because of the high-quality protein they contain. And enriched yeast-raised bread is almost equally important. It's rich in three B vitamins -- thiamine, niacin, and riboflavin -- as well as the mineral iron. Spread vour toast with margarine ox butter and you add vitamin A. Vitamin C is yours in a glass of orange, tomato, or grapefruit juice. Add to this egg-toast-juice com* bination a cup of coffee or a glass of milk (and bacon and cereal if you l i k e ) and you've got a combination to chase any listless feeling -- plenty of energy «u s«e you through the morning. Many people, however, neglect themselves, failing to realize that cleanliness is a necessary accompaniment to good health, the educational 'committee of the Illinoie State Medical society observes in Health Talk. : Some persons are allergic to Certain types of soaps, detergent and cosmetics, but this sensitivity should not be a barrier to cleanliness. Once the causative culprit i dentified, another aid to keeping clean and freshly groomed can be found. There ere three types of skin; dry, oily and average. A person with a dry skin is apt to develop winter itch, one with oily skin usuaJIy develops acne during puberty, while the person. with an aver* age skin escapes either of the^two conditions. The oil in a dry skin may be "conserved with a superfatted soap or a soapless detergent. and, if necessary, additional oil may be applied after bathing, Frequent bathing Is advisable during summer and fall months, since the oil and sweat glands are more active. In the winter, however, persons with very dry skin are frequently restricted in their bathing because Of th# itchine. a<>. These persons can depend on sponge baths to free the body from odors. ' The condition of the Bcalp usually parallels that of the skin. A person with an oily skin often has an oily scalp, while a. dry skin Is ordinarily accompanied by a dry scalp. Erroneously, people thnk that the scalp should not be shampooed frequently because of the drying of the hair. Actually the hair and head should be shampooed frequently* because the presence of hair in the region provides a better opportunity for dirt to collect. Then, too; a rancid odor usually accompanies unclean hair, v- -v ... - :- The type Of cleansing agent should depend ofr the individual, since sensitivity to anyone is an individual problem. This, is also true of cosmetics. Together with cleanlness, skillfully applied cosmetic^ enhanfce a person's "appearance and contribute to one's feeling of well-being. Many persons are sensitive to one or a combination in ingredients in creams, rouges, powders and lipsticks, but once the causative irritant has I been found, and the condition ] cleared up, a suitable substitute can be employed. * Cleansing creams are used on dry skins Ln place of soap and water- They may consist of mineral oil and waxes, or of cocoa butter, which has a Jow melting point and becomes practically liquid at skin temperature. They are especially useful in removing excessive makeup, such as that used by theatrcal performers. Some persons cannot use any type of nail lacquer. Even* without the popular array o f J h a i l colorings today, nails can be clean, well tapered and lightly polished by buffing. The outer dress does not make the man or woman. The body itself should be clean and well cared for but clean clothing is essential to keeping the body clean. Freshly laundered undergarments should be worn each day and should be repaired and dry cleaned when necessary. Attention to the small details of cleanliness pay big dividends.
