Hollingsworth has mad* public the text of a letter written to George Mahin executivesecretary of the Taxpayer's Federation of Illinois, calling attention to errors in the Federation's recent publication, "The State of Tour State Finances." In its publication the federation stated that the "condition of you state's finances is not good." Hollingsworth's letter pointed out that an error of $13,000,000 in addition had been made and that transfer of certain funds had been falsely reported. The text of HoUingSworth-a letter follows: •T"*'. • "Dear Mr. Mabin:1 "I have received and ' studied the pamphlet recently issued by Jhe Taxpayers' Federation of Illinois entitled The . State of Your State Finances,' and the news release based upon itj. I wish to call your attention to a few errors of fact contained therein. These errors were admitted by a member of your staff, and I' therefore assume that either the necessary corrections would be made or notice of the errors would be distribu ted with the publication or in succeeding releases. To the best of my knowledge neither action has b«en* taken. "There is an error of $13,000,- 000 in adding figures pertaining to state income. There is also an error in the amount of transfers indicated in your pamphlet as $5,000,000, while the state treasurer shows them to be $3,- 100,000. These errors are involved in attempting to demonstrate that the State of Illinois finances 'are not good.' "Any citizen is certainly entitled to make his estimates of the future and arrive at his own conclusions, but I do not believe the public should be misled by inconsistent and incoriect statements of the record. State finances are sufficiently complex without further confusion in this manner. ^ "Very truly yoursT^ "M. H. Hollingsworth • '"Director of Finance" Girl Scouts Troop 2 . Our president, Judy Hans, called the meeting to order. We pledged allegiance to the flag, and said the Girl Scout Promise. Today our leaders brought a new chart for the president to start the meeting with. Our treasurer read her report and it was approved. We then closed our meeting.
