Of 9,000,000 trees and plants made available in September, 3,442,000 have already been sold for spring delivery to farmers, sportsmen and public a gencies, Palmer said. Indications are that many of the varieties offered will be sold out before spring. The stock of Scotch Fine, Bald Cypress and certain pine transplants is already sold. Sevt, eral thousand farmers buy trees, each, year, and requests from, rural landowners for stock and planting hints have steadily in* creased since 1945. Trees are being planted for profit, soil conservation, wildlife shelter and landscaping. The increasing popularity of home grown pine Christmas trees stimulates the profit motive. ON SALE THURSDAY, FRIDAY & SATURDAY] Ur?c/uy DRUG STORE Hinkle Pillsl»21c Outboard engineers, whose research shows that it's the boat and not the motor that causes most of the noise, have come up with a solution. First shipment of a new motor ha^ed on the research, a 5% horsepower model described by iu n-anufflctvirrr as the first 'truly quiet" outboard, 1b being display : j, by B»U's Outboard Motors. Johnson Motors dealer in McHenry, Illinois. The McHenry dealer said the new motor, the Sea-Horse 5^4, is jf a revolutionary "suspensioi drive" design which virtually elim nates noise by absorbing sounrl vibrations before they reach the boat. He sud engineers found tha' :he boat a sounding-board, lik« a violin, in amplifying tones. In announcing the 5'/4, the manufacturer described it as so quiet the slap of waves is audible over the purr of the motor. In the Johnson line, it replaces the Sea- Horse 5, which long has been the world's largest selling outboard Among new features listed in the 5V4 are twistgrip speed control, full gear shift (forward, neutral and reverse) and separate plugin 4-gallbrt fuel tank. The suspension or cushion-drive design is new in the industry and was originated toy Johnson after three years of experimental research. The Johnson Dealer said also that the 1954 Sea-Horse 10 will b« quieter than the '53 model dus to carburetor silencers, and that both the 5% and 10 have a njotor hood; which ipay he completely removed in a ifew seconds without tools. The firm's 3 and 25-horsepower models are being continued without major engineering changes. USB OUR LAY-A-WAY PLAN For OhrMmv.
