wt'w-w w THE McHENHY PLA1HDEALER fhnnday. April 22. 1954| IN MEMORIAM % A Tribal* To Dr. A. I. Frchlich. Country Doctor -So thm abide Faith, Hope and Ct&rity. these three; but tltt greatest of these is Charity" . There is ^obably not * aoul in the McHenry area who can hear these words without calling to mind Dr. A. I. Froehlich. whose death our entire community mourns this week. He was a man beloved by all, and everyone who has ever benefited from his knowledge, experience, oare and tireless efforts as a physiciiin feels this loss as a personal one, for here was a man who cannot be replaced, a man charitable in the extreme; the personification of the story-book character of the country doctor dedicated to the medical profession, serving- his patients with little or no monetary remuneration, trusting in people to pay for their medica care in their own good time and who yet managed to become financially stable, proving that his bread cast upon th» waters <114 not go unrewarded. o jv; ' - Dr. Froehlich was a man who, in addition to his chosen work, had an avid interest in his community and its improvement. He served on the High School Board of Education for over 25 vearp, being as tireless in this field of endeavor as his Profession and whose deep conccrn for the young people of our schools made him a?ways anxious to supply the best teachers available under the best conditions and environment ptestble and whose popularity with faculty is well-known. |> *") Here was a nian who served our community long and well ' 'in the embodiment of good Christian living and whose family has inherited his greatness of spirit. The grief of the bereaved family is shared by us all and our sincere condolence is extended to them, but they may be proud of the example he set. For under his sometimes gruff exterior there beat a heart filled with a dedication to life and the alleviation of suffering physical, mental or communal--until this great heart itself could no longer carry its strenuous load and this man's life was ended. Truly he was the last of the country doctors and will never be replaced, and we Who were fortunate enough to have had such a man in our midst know that we will never see another such as he, but we can take comfort from the knowledge that he will now hear other words "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." JI3% OVER '52 The National Board «f fire nderwtiters has reported «.! at e losses in t<ie United States v...i year r«-»ched an all-time i gh of $90J,000,000. a fact that j: mts up tlie !'« -• t foi a strenu- < clean-ut campaign in this . munlty. & This amount of $903,000,000 is : 5.1 per cent higher than the ; ^ar before, when fire losses ai ounted to $785,000,C00. In one : onth last year (Au?u.tt) they j ached $107,000,000, reflecting a i sastrous industrial loss. A 1 orough spuing clean-bp house- < waning can help reduce this na- 1 mal waste! Measured in dodars the Na i onal Board said, the nation's i re losses have increased in I eneral since 1935, an abrupt rise 1 ginning in 1943. The losses, it < xplained, reflected the nation's < <panding economy, particularly t lose insurable values which increased proportionately with risi ig prices and mounting produc- • tion. The National Board also pointed out that there have been several factors which have been effective in checking what conceivably could have been a much greater national fire waste. Among those factors are a growing public awareness of the need for greater fire prevention and the steps taken to increase safety and protection -- factors most emphasized by educational and service organization, especially those in the capital stock fire insurance business.
