American Legion Auxiliary ^ At the last monthly meeting of the American Legion auxiliary, it was asked by Leoda Freund, membership chairman, that members help bring in new members. Let s give her a hand. There are a lot of girls that want to join so let's go to them and shoW we want them to be a member of a good organization. Anyone wanting to join or come to our meetirtgscishould get in touch with the president, Alice Murdoch, or Marion Ruzicka. This coming Friday is the couiity meeting. County meetings are very interesting, if you want to know the functioning of the Legion auxiliary, this is where you'll find it. If you can go, give Alice Murdoch a call, You won't be sorry. P.T.A. Meeting The community is invited to attend the first meeting of the P.T.A. at Harrison school on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. The new administrator and the faculty will be introduce^. The new officers of the P.T.A. are Mrs. F. O. Marion, president, Mrs. Meiling, vice-president, Mrs. B. King, secretary and Mrs. E. Johnson, treasurer. A party was held at the home of Mrs. H. DiGrazia Sept. 2. About twenty persons Were present. Refreshments wefe served. The Arthur Meekers of Wonder Woods took a 6,000-mlie, 13- day flying trip. They visited Seattle, Vancouver and- Los Angeles where they visited friends. Jim Anderson of Wonder Woods recently enlisted in the Air . Corps. He is stationed at the Sampspn Air Base in Geneva, N.Y.. Toby Zandier' of Indian Ridge, 4 years old, just returned from a 1,000-mile auto trip through the midwest. He was accompanied by his uncle. They visited St. Louis, Kansas City and other points of interest. Deep Spring Woods held their annual election Aug. 29. Francis Tiller Was re-elected president for three years. The board of directors is composed of 'George Burns, for three years, Jack' Mc- Cafferty, three years, and Mrs. Davidson, two years, to fill the unexpired term of Al Horn who has sold his property. The other officers "will be elected at the next regular meeting. The Wonder Woods group of the women's hospital auxiliary met at the home of Neva Fueher on Atig. 26. Those present were Katherine Wurm, Ann Miller, Ruth Woodward and Katherine Noble.' Substitutes were Kay Stendbach, June Kidell and Bernice Pfaff. The members of the Wonder Lalte Yacht club left last Saturday morfffflfr in a body for the boat races at Lake Geneva. The Wonder Woods association had their annual meeting at the Legion hall Aug ^2. Since all roads were blacktQpped and the beaches are in good order, the next project will be a community house and playground for the children. The newly-elected directors are: District 2, R. Jirousek; district 6, Mort Woodward; district 8, R. Mack, in district 4, no one was present so a director will be appointed. The officers will be elected at the next meeting. The Wonder Woods 'social group met rft Millie's Pizza Palace Aug. 30. A vote of thanks was given the retiring officers. New officers are Katherine Noble, chairwoman, and Helen Schweitzer, secretary. The next meeting will be Sept. 27. Arthur Indelicato of Wonder Woods will enter the Christian Brotherhood as a novitiate this fall. The Christian Brothers is tfr order of Catholic teachers. He will attend the LaSalle institute at Glencoe* Mo. The Indelicatos also have a daughter in the Sisters of Providence, which is also an order dedicated to teaching. Fred Zandier, of Indian Ridge and director of recreation in Crystal Lake, was the guest speaker at the annual banquet of the Crystal Lake Little League. He spoke on the broad implications and need of community recreation program* directed by trained professional , people. Varsity players are Winn Davidson, Chuck Majercik, Wally Schimke and George Taylor. . Harrison school opened last week with an enrollment of 249 and there are more expected. This includes 39 in the first ggade. The breakdown of other rooms was not available at this time. Tom Hartman of Indian Ridge took his first vows as a Dominican priest recently. He served his novitiate in Minnesota. It will be five more years of study before he will say his first mass. The bowling leagues of Wonder Lake started the season this past week with the women's league at McHenry bowling on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. The Monday night league bowls at Johnsburg at 7. Mr. Basile passed away at the Woodstock Memorial hospital on Aug. 24 after a prolonged illness. He had been a resident of Wondftf Lake for the past six years, We express our sincere sympathy to his bereaved wife and his three lovely little children, Darlene, Thomas and Bonnie.
