The dinner meeting is being held at Paul Peterson's Lodge on Rt. 14. Mary Ann Friberg of Barrington, who assisted Zandier this summer, will also speak at the dinner. Zandier is, presently serving in Riley as the principal of the grade school there. Another Wonder Laker, Pat Clark of Highland Shores, is one of the Riley teaehers. Legibn News The Wonder Lake post had the honor of reporting 100 percent membership at " the September meeting of the McHenry county council. According to the post CDmmander, A1 Franz, the post is now aiming for an all-time high and hope to have it by the next county meeting Oct. 28, which will be held in Hebron. Franz urges all members to pay their dues and he comments that "A strong American Legion is good for the community, state and nation." The Wonder Lake post was awarded the first-place trophy in the McHenry county American Legion junior basebajl league. The trophy was presented to Commander Franz at the last county meeting. The Sadie Hawkins dance held recently at the Legion home for the entire community was considered a great success. Prizes for the best costumes went to Roy Meiswinkel, Mrs. Donald Michaels and to Mrs. Nancy Franz. The next community dance will be held Oct. 23 at the Woodstock Armory. Admission is frefe and vBiIl Moore's orchestra will play. First Aid Classes All persons of Wonder Lake who are interested in taking first aid instruction are invited to be present at the Harrison school this evening (Thursday) at 7:30. A trained Red Cross instructor. Mrs. Lucy Wienke of Woodstock will be in charge and instruction is free. Now In Pennsylvania Mr and Mrs. Roy tforen of Wonder Center are now on an eastern trip. The first of tiiis Week they were in Pennsylvania and will not be back to their home until this weekend. The Norens are both "employed, at the Ringwood Chemical plant}' Theatre Meeting Mr. and Mrs. Roy Swanson and Charles Paetow were among those present at the meeting of the ^McHenry County Theatre Guild last Wednesday evening. The Guild will probably present several plays after the first of the year. ' A Trip To turkey Mrs. Dorothy McEachren of Wonder Lake, who spent three months in Turkey this spring, will show colored slides taken on her trip for the benefit of the Ringwood church. Those attending are Harriet Wilson, Inez Ktueger, Lorraine Stahl, Bill Nielseri, Howard Wenkel, Marion Cannon and Martha Burch Blue Ballot Speaker "Mrs. Bernice Van der Vries of Winnetka, state representative from the seventh district, will speak in the Woodstock opera house Monday, Oct. 4, at 8 p.m. Sponsois of Mrs. Van der Vries' talk are thg members of the McHenry county Blue Ballot committee which is headed by Lowell Nye of Harvard. Mrs. Van der Viies will explain the reapportionment section of the Blue Ballot which will come before Illinois voters in November. Reapportionment is backed by both parties but the measure might be defeated if sot voted upon at all. By the Gateway amendment, two-thirds of those voting election are needed to change the constitution in any way.- The seventh district, which Mrs. Van der Vries has represented for ten years, has a population of 800,000 and the so-called West Side Bloc outvotes these people about sixteen to eleven because of the present type of districting which was created in 1901. The West Sidevs outvote McHenry county legislators atibut five to one. Every citizen interested in government is invited to attend the meeting in Woodstock. There is no admittance fee.
