Send it to Mrs. Fred Peeler, Gospel Church News The annual Sunday school rally last Sunday attracted far more; people than our chapel could accommodate. In the musical pro- j gram, we heard for the first time our youth chorus. A student quartette from Trinity seminary, Chicago, made a very real contribution to that service. Next Sunday, Oct. 10, the pastor will speak on the subject, "The Harvest." In the evening at 7:30, at our regular Gospel service, the mortgage papers on our property will be burned and a preliminary rei port on our plans for expansion will be submitted. Sunday Bible School will be as usual, at 10 a.m. Prayer meeting each Wednesday evening at 8. A cordial welcome is extended to all. sure no butts are smoldering under cushions or on tables. Electricity Misuse of electricity is also responsible for many home fires each year. Here's how to guard against the sparks and overheating that result in electrical fires: 1. Fifteen ampere fuses are recommended for most household circuits. Never use oversize fuses or tamper with the ones already in the box. 2. Don't try to run too many appliances from one outlet; you will overload the circuit. If fuses blow frequently even without overloading, have an electrician inspect the wiring. 3. Look for the UL Ialbel on all electric cords and appliances you buy. It means they passed Underwriters' Laboratories tests for fiie and shock safety. 4. When an electric cord or appliance needs repairs, don't let a "home handyman" tinker with it. Take it to an electrician. 5. Extension or repairs to wiring is also a job for a professional. Wiring done by amateurs has caused many fires. 6. Don't string wires over hooks or around nails, or run them under rugs where they may be walked on. Insulation will break or wear out. Oct., 7-14-21 COMMUNITY CHURCH ADDITION TO BE DEDICATED SUNDAY (Continued from Page 1) CARD OF THANKS Mrs. Nickels and I wish to extend our sincere thanks to the McHenry fire department for the prompt response to our call for help the morning of Sept. 21. Also, we were impressed by the alertness of the telephone operator who turned In the alarm. I had only enough time to pick up the phone and shout fire and give the address. Within seconds, help was on the way and the fire was under control after fifteen minutes of quick action, thereby avoiding complete destruction. Words cannot express our appreciation to our neighbors, namely Harry Zimmerman, at whose home we stayed: Mrs. Lydia Martel, who cooked breakfast and generally took over; and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Frett, who generously allowed us the use of their guest house without obligation. To one and all we are humbly grateful. Sincerely, 22 Mr. J. L. Nickels now for the building and ultimately, with the addition of future refinements, the total cost will run to $72,000. The present stiucture will include a youth room, kindergarten, church office, meeting room, kitchen, church school space and dining room facilities. A stage, dressing room, modernfold doors, etc., will be added later. Under the supervision of the projects chairman, Harold Sanford, the men of the church are now meeting one night a week to help with the painting, tile laying and carpentry work that still needs to be done. With church school attendance up to 195 last Sunday, it becomes apparent that the new addition was made available just in time.
