Betty JEfettemuuui Public Party Next Sunday evening, Oct. 17, at 8 o'clock the Christian Mothers will sponsor a public party at the new school hall. These parties have foeen so successful in the past and it is hoped this one will be (bigger and better than all previous ones. As usual, the proceeds go toward the new school fund. Nancy Friend Married in Chicago A wedding of interest took place in Chicago last Sunday. Nancy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Friend, was united in marriage to James Walsh of Chicago. Nancy is the granddaughter of Mrs. Catherine Smith. Phyllis Smith was bridesmaid for her cousin. ' * -- Many relatives 'and friends from here attended the reception in .Chicago. Dinner Oocsts Id McHenry Mrs. Lena Pitzen, Mrs. Helen Ilettermann and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith were dinner guests at the Matt Laures home 4n Mc- Heniry last Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weingart of ICeH^nry were also there; After a ilelieious dinner was served, an evening of card playing was enjoyed. Congratulations We would like to extend our 'congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, who celebrated their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary on Oct. 8. A small get-together with the family was held for this occasion. Community Club Dance' The Johnsburg Community club is sponsoring their Hallowe'en dance at the club hall on Wednesday evening, Oct. 27. 'Come on and join the fun by dressing up in costume. A cash award will be presented to the man, the woman and the couple in ibest costumes. Feather Party The Johnsourg Community club is sponsoring a feather party on Saturday evening, Nov. 13, at the club hall. The public is cordially invited to attend. Honor Baseball Team At the last meeting of the Community club; the Johnsburg Tigers were honored. " " Here *n fhere Mr. and Mrs. Hank -Nell have JieeXL Spending this last Week in Wisconsin. Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Lasser of Jak-Ana Heights returned Sunday after spending several days in Wisconsin. Mrs. Lasser's father, who .resides with them, spent this time in Chicago visiting another daughter. Mr. and Mrs. George Oeffling, Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. George Oeffling, Jr., spent last weekend in Battle Creek, Mich. They visited with Mr. and Mrs. Chet Clute. Mrs. Clute is a sister of Mrs. Oeffling, Jr. The Bill Zimmerman family and the Robert Schmelzers, all of Rockford, visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Smith, las£ week. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Einspar and children spent last weekend visiting her parents in Chicago. Richard Dehn spent last Saturday at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dehn of Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Boiler of Morton, 111., spent last weekend visiting her father, Bill Ricks. Mr. and Mrs. Merv Schmitt and family of McHenry were Saturday evening visitors at the Joseph Miiler home. Pvt. James Miller and A3/c Robert Miller, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Miller, have been transferred to different camps recently. Jim is now stationed in Virginia and Bob is over in the southern part of Japan. COLLECTIONS OF FRANCHISE FEES AND TAXES UP THIS YEAH Public School P.T.A. The regular meeting night of the Johnsburg public school P.T.A. has been changed to the third Tuesday of each month. The next meeting will be held on Oct. 19 and plans for a Hallowe'en party for the children will be discussed. Please attend. There has been a number of meetings going on these past few weeks to get together the representatives who will make .the door to door collection, Joseph Huen(iann and Gerald Hettermann are heading the drive for the "Johnsburg - Pistakee area. Please give what you can for this campaign. Hospital Notes Mrs. Irvin May underwent surgery at the Woodstock hospital last week. We send some quick get well wishes to her.
